Caramel, roasty, toast real warmth. first hemel and aarde. In amsterdam bottle really dark and soothing. Perfect in the rainy amsterdam weather. Woody boubon excellence

I had this beer compared with a 2 year aged regular version of the same beer. Its amazing how much the whiskey adds to the complexity of an already complex and near perfect stout. I prefer the regular, but this is close.

@churchkey in DC. Bottle. Oct 2013. Strong bourbon nose, deep dark black color, fairly thick. Needs to age.. Too sharp and overpowering right now - masks many of the good flavors that are clearly in this beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

Dark and delicious. Very dark appearance with a small caramel colored head. The bourbon barrel aging is very obvious in the taste and masks some of the subtle flavones of the original. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

GBZ59 (1217) - BARCELONA (Catalonia), SPAIN - OCT 25, 2013
Botella de 330ml. Copa Tulipa. Saboreada en el BierCab (Barcelona). Color rubí intenso y apariencia nublada. Espuma bronceada y persistente. Desequilibrada. 330ml bottle. Tulip glass @ BierCab (Barcelona). Deep ruby color, cloudy appearance. Tan froth, lasting crown. Caramel malt, spiced aromas, hints of bitter orange & woody hues to the nose. Sugar & caramel malt at first sip. Medium body. Soft carbonation. All flavors & aromas are quickly overwhelmed by intense alcohol notes. Bourbon provides a harsh ABV sensation. Unbalanced.

11.2 Bottle. Thanks Sparky! Nose of vanilla and oak. Sweet. Very rich mouth of bourbon, oak, a bit of licorice. Incredibly easy drinkable. Great.

UPDATED: OCT 30, 2014 Bottle: black in the center with some deeper brown outlines, topped off with a nice sized, light-tan head that foams up nicely and fades to a lighter colored collar. Aroma is powerful; dark, bitter chocolate, moderate oak, warming bourbon, ashy roast, light char... Similar to the Misto BA, but the bourbon is better integrated here. Taste is sweeter than Misto BA as well (certainly a welcomed change). Dark chocolate, roasted malt, light coffee, with an undercurrent of creamy & milky sweetness, leading into an oak & light bourbon finish. Subtle, yet powerful sweetness helps balance compare to the Misto & 666 versions of H&V. I liked this one quite a bit.

Espresso colored with a nice brown head. Smell is woody, cherries, red wine, chocolate. Taste has coffee, chocolate, heavy malts, dried plums, sour cherries, big alcohol. Very complex. Palate is heavy and full, good carbonation, alcohol is big but not overpowering. Overall: really good. I keep on tasting new things with every sip. LOve this.

stouby (4777) - Holbæk, DENMARK - OCT 19, 2013
Bottle at home, 2013 vintage. Black with a brown head. Aroma heavy malty (roasted, dark chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, barrel/wood, vanilla). Flavor heavy sweet, some alcohol, lot’s of hops, long lasting. Full body, smooth.

teddybeer (4109) - Madrid, SPAIN - OCT 18, 2013
On tap @ Animal. Black colour with a tan head, light creamy with medium duration and lacing. Aroma is slightly toasted malts, coconut, light bourbon, vanilla, hints of ripe red fruits. Flavor has notes of roasted and toasted malts, red fruits, ripe brown plums, slightly hints of barrel, bourbon and wood with a good presence of coconut. The final is creamy, dominated by roasted malts, bourbon barrels, smooth on palate, light alcoholic but hidden by coffee and black chocolate notes that are in a high presence. very drinkable in spite of the high alcohol. Excellent beer.
