UPDATED: OCT 30, 2014 Bottle: black in the center with some deeper brown outlines, topped off with a nice sized, light-tan head that foams up nicely and fades to a lighter colored collar. Aroma is powerful; dark, bitter chocolate, moderate oak, warming bourbon, ashy roast, light char... Similar to the Misto BA, but the bourbon is better integrated here. Taste is sweeter than Misto BA as well (certainly a welcomed change). Dark chocolate, roasted malt, light coffee, with an undercurrent of creamy & milky sweetness, leading into an oak & light bourbon finish. Subtle, yet powerful sweetness helps balance compare to the Misto & 666 versions of H&V. I liked this one quite a bit. Maakun (5344) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - OCT 23, 2013
Espresso colored with a nice brown head. Smell is woody, cherries, red wine, chocolate. Taste has coffee, chocolate, heavy malts, dried plums, sour cherries, big alcohol. Very complex.
Palate is heavy and full, good carbonation, alcohol is big but not overpowering.
Overall: really good. I keep on tasting new things with every sip. LOve this. stouby (4653) - Holbæk, DENMARK - OCT 19, 2013
Bottle at home, 2013 vintage. Black with a brown head. Aroma heavy malty (roasted, dark chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, barrel/wood, vanilla). Flavor heavy sweet, some alcohol, lot’s of hops, long lasting. Full body, smooth. teddybeer (3735) - Madrid, SPAIN - OCT 18, 2013
On tap @ Animal. Black colour with a tan head, light creamy with medium duration and lacing. Aroma is slightly toasted malts, coconut, light bourbon, vanilla, hints of ripe red fruits. Flavor has notes of roasted and toasted malts, red fruits, ripe brown plums, slightly hints of barrel, bourbon and wood with a good presence of coconut. The final is creamy, dominated by roasted malts, bourbon barrels, smooth on palate, light alcoholic but hidden by coffee and black chocolate notes that are in a high presence. very drinkable in spite of the high alcohol. Excellent beer. Lore (2661) - Budapest, HUNGARY - OCT 18, 2013
almost black colour, 3-4 cm long lasting creamy brown head; aroma of coffee, chocolate, roastedness, some cognac and alcohol; taste is the same: roasted coffeebeans and sugar, chocolate, and cognac; sweet and bitter simultaneously with an excellent ballance; perfect imperial stout, I would score it as 5.0 if I liked stouts :-) it is quite surprising that it has only 4.13 at the time of tasting...maybe nobody likes sotuts?... :-))

Bottle. black with brown lace. Boozy nose, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, bourbon. Sweet chocolate flavor, coffee and vanilla, bourbon. Intense chocolate and bourbon flavors are great. Argonian (280) - Athens, GREECE - OCT 15, 2013
Bottle. Pours a beautiful pitch black body, with an average dark brown head that diminishes pretty quickly, leaving a good lace. Amazing aroma of vanilla, coffee, and also, bourbon is very noticeable. Taste is too strong for me, though. At the start, there are notes of chocolate and coffee, but as the beer warms up, bourbon just dominates everything, leaving a very boozy finish. Average carbonation, full-bodied, smooth texture. A very good beer, but maybe I wanted a little more balance in the taste. BRW (2714) - Barcelona, SPAIN - OCT 13, 2013
On tap at Biercab. Black colour with brown head. Bourbon, vanilla and roasted aroma. Roasted, borubon, and vanilla taste. Slightly sweet, with alcohol warmth. Full body. TimE (5767) - Tokyo, JAPAN - OCT 13, 2013
Very dark brown color. Huge milk chocolate, caramel and bourbon nose. Very intense. Big boozy, tons of bourbon, big milk chocolate, caramel. Very hot. The complexity is diminished due to the booziness. Still fun, but not burning.
