BeerFest2010. Black colour, small brown head. Aroma is toffee, coffee, roasted malts, mild burnt notes as well as some slight vanilla and alcoholic notes as well. Flavour is coffee, some roasted malts, mild toffee as well as vanilla. Quite thick, and bodied. Yumyum.
Draught at Copenhagen Beer Festival. Very black, dark brown head. Huge milk chocolate aroma. Sweet and sofrt with creamy milk chocolate and bourbon slowly growing into the picture. Not really complex as such, but the flavour intensity, the seemlessness and the softness grabs me by the tonsils and makes this beer stand out even in the toughest of crowds. Bottle 18 cl. Pours pitch black with a light brown head. Sweet aroma of chocolate and a little vanilla. Quite full-bodied, very dark malts but never burned really, more chocolatey with distinct sweet Borbon accents - and licorice allsorts. Warming alcohol finish and a perfect balance. I dig Bourbon and I dig this beer. Wonderful. 070510 madmitch76 (24791) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JUL 3, 2010

Copenhagen Beer Festival. Very dark brown beer. Soft dry palate. Rich malt, a little peat and coffee. A little bourbon as well. Just a tiny bit of hop at the end. Drinks like 8% abv. Very nice! Original rating 3.8

Opaque black beer, tiny tan head. Marmite and oak on the nose. Light soft palate, semi dry. Aniseed licorice and slightly bitter dark malt. Offset by vanilla oak and semi sweet whisky. Trace of chocolate. Finishes soft. Much better than I rated at CPH 2010. Another top notch dark beer from De Molen.
Bottle #360, 180 ml, at Struise schoolhouse, shared with BigMomma and Owen. Dark brown, flat with rare edge bubbles and scant lacing. Aroma of dark cocoa, oak, whiskey, burnt coffee, vanilla. Thick and syrupy, rich dark chocolate flavor, slight burn toward the middle, dark oak in the finish. Delicious.
