erickok (6037) - Leuven, BELGIUM - SEP 24, 2016
UPDATED: FEB 24, 2017 Black body with small head. Served a bit cold TBH but still directly hit you with it?s rich sweet bourbon vanilla, milk chocolate and clearly present but well integrated smoked malts, of the woody kind. The aging didn?t thin the beer much and added a strong character of its own. The smokey malt further help to make sure this is still a solid stout in the beginning. Grat stuff! (On tap at Borefts 2016) Re-rate. Bottle bought at the brewery. Amazing complexity, rich malts, not too dimmed by the barrel aging. Super dull flavour. Wow, stunning beer! Upped my rating another bit. (33cl bottle from the brewpub shop)

Werckmeister (3126) - Vienna, AUSTRIA - AUG 12, 2016
0,33l bottle at home bought at Beergium. Bottled June 11th 2014. black color, very small coffee-colored head. smells of wood, bourbon, light dark fruity, some alcohol, liqueurish, some earthy notes, coffee, a bit glueish, some marzipan, light grape notes / sour notes. overall very nice barrel notes. full body, soft carboantion, slick mouthfeel. tastes earthy, light bacon, some alcohol, spices, bourbon, nice wood notes, marzipan, bitter almonds, some glue. finishes rather alcoholic / glueish with notes of marzipan, wood, bourbon. overall quite good one, but still quite alcoholic (too much so), if it wasnt for the nice marzipan / wooden notes this one would get even less points. gets even more alcoholic once it starts warming up (so better drink cold).

Big impy stout, that has a lot of character. Little subdued initially but when it warmed up it began to shine. Yum - like drinking an old leathery boot!
