0.33 l bottle, 12.0% abv, filled to the rim, bottled in December 2011, delivery from bierkoning’s treasure chest, thanks Edo! Black with a few beige bubbles on top. Intense, sweetish-malty, roasty, moderately smoky and a bit fruity aroma of dark chocolate, licorice, peat, dark ripe fruits and maybe hints of soy sauce. Quite sweet, malty, rather roasty, moderately smoky taste of dark chocolate, hard roasted coffee, licorice, tar, peat and a touch of dark ripe fruits, followed by a long, rather roasty-bitter, earthy, fairly smoky and a bit warming finish. Just over medium-bodied, slightly oily mouthfeel, flat. Pretty good beer that aged very well. Hardly any carbonation left and a bit thin for that abv now, but impressively balanced and round with great intensity and complexity. TEJA (3131) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JUN 21, 2017

T: Slightly sweet upfront. Strong notes of oak, licorice and roasted malts. Notes of roasted malts and toffee. Bourbon.
M: Full body. Low carbonation. Bourbon and oak in the aftertaste.
O: Good drinkability. Moolesen (580) - NETHERLANDS - JUL 23, 2016
Bottle 33cl. Pitch black. Difficult to generate foam :-). Heavy nose of peat, iodine and smoked malt. What an intense aroma. Somewhere way back you’ll discover some rye bread with hints of sweetness. Great beer Kavieeeen (6) - Panningen, NETHERLANDS - APR 30, 2016 does not count

Bottle @ Buitenlust with Thompson. Smells quite sweet with a slight hint of burned sugar, coffee and licorice. Looks dark but consistent with a medium tan, foamy head. Tastes quite bitter and somewhat sweet, a lot like dark chocolate with a hint of wood/charcoal. Overall, another great beer from The Molen that’s just different from anything in its style.
