COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Made with the most heavily peated malt in the world from the Bruichladdich distillery. Almost pitch black and opaque, small head. Furiously peated aroma, hiding the malt, licorice and dark chocolate somewhat. Very full bodied, thick mouthfeel, like fluid bread. Dark chocolate, loads of peat, lapsang souchong tea, chocolate cake, culminating in an almost endless aftertaste that also has licorice.
Alcohol varies by batch.

Molasses/caramel sweet, smoky and roasted malt. Pretty nice smoked flavor; a little weird with the sweet flavors, though. A little alcohol flavor... Not much for 10% ABV. Moderate bitterness.

750ml. 07/12/2011 Noire. Nez: acide. Café. Fumée. Bouche. Cacao. Extrêmement fumée. Chocolat noir. Café. Torréfié. Très sèche. Whisky. Chaleur d'alcool. Crémeuse. Liège. Presqu'aucun sucre. Tout se passe en bouche et pas grand chose au nez. Mais un grand bonheur pour les amateur de bière et de whisky.

Tap @ Delft Bierfestival. Black colour, thin beige head. Nose is roasted malts, massive chocolate, some peatiness, but not too overpowering. Flavour is roasted malts, chocolate, peat again. Fairly bitter and dry. Low carbonation. Roasty finish. Good stuff.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Fruity smell with dried fruit and dark bread. similar taste with chocolate. Like a dark barley wine, very fruity but not too smoky. Very nice!

Bottle - 330ml. Opaque black body with a good beige creamy head. Strong malty aroma with whisky and hoppy hints. Alcohol is noticeable, but not too agressive. Taste is well balanced. It carries strong woody notes and ends with a warming whisky/woody finish. Very interesting.

@Nederlandse Bieren Festival Delft - Smoke comes through quite a lot in the aroma although its more muted in the taste. Its quite sticky. Theres plenty of bitter, roasted malts inn the flavour along with that ever present smokey edge.

33 cl. bottle. Pours black with a short tan head. Dark malt aromas with dark fruit and some smoke. Once you take the first sip, the smoke really hits you. The finish is slightly sweet and is completely masking the high alcohol content. What a great beer!

Poured from a 330ml bottle, pours black with some dark ruby visible in the light and a thick, dark brown head. Unusually light for a 10% stout, also unusually light bodied, still medium heavy but not almost oil like others. Aroma is heavily of smoke with some chocolate. Lively carbonation, taste was at first dominated by the smoke. After being left out, the taste matured and a lot of flavours came through, more traditional stout flavours like roasted malts and dark chocolate, with the smoke still being present. An excellent beer, definitely one to take your time with, different from their other Imperial Stouts Ive tried, those being Hel & Verdoemenis and Rasputin.
