The best beer I’ve ever tasted. Drank at a local beer festival in the summer. Going to the Netherlands at the end of the month so will re-rate in detail when (hopefully) drinking it. Labove (427) - Rome, ITALY - MAY 28, 2011

Czarne piwo o ciemnobeżowej, puszystej lecz niezbyt obfitej i niezbyt trwałej pianie oraz intensywnym, wędzonym aromacie suszonych śliwek. W smaku gęste i pełen, lekko słodowe, wyraziście wędzone z nutami suszonych śliwek i posmakiem kawy w tle oraz łagodnie rozgrzewającym finiszem.
(33cl bottle) Purchased at Cook Street Liquor Store for around $7.90/bottle. Pours a brown thin head atop a black body. Nose of overly peat and smokey. Rich flavour, jerky, highly carbonated on the tongue - this is almost more of a smoked beer than an impy stout. Intriguing - I’m not to into smoked beers but this is fascinating. Strong, gritty .. An ashtray and young tobacco leaf. It’s very very delicious. koppertone (63) - Alberta, CANADA - MAY 8, 2013
I’m actually not a stout fan but I heard that this was good so I thought I’d give it a go. I’m so glad that I did. Very smooth taste, a touch of caramel and a very pleasant aftertaste. Looked wonderful in the glass.

Pours black with minimal brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, vanilla, wood and coffee. Taste is same as complex: coffee, smoked wood, cocoa, vanilla. Medium body, booze well hidden, medium bitterness. Fantastic, as any other De Molen stout! Masters! vincentvega72 (788) - Terneuzen, NETHERLANDS - JUL 20, 2016
Puur zwart met mokkakleurige schuimkraag die snel wegebt tot fijn laagje. Aroma van rook, mout, sigaren. Geroosterde smaak. Pure chocolade, beetje (gebrande) caramel, turf, aarde. Afdronk heb je uren geniet van. Beetje bitter. Puur en onversneden. Op en top genietersbier. Klasse thedm (6275) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - DEC 9, 2016
This bottled brew from a beer bar poured a head of foamy fine to medium sized light brown colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a no visible carbonation, an opaque black colored body and a fair lacing. The deep aroma was chocolate roasted male and molasses. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a strong roasted/burnt malt aftertaste. The delicious flavor contained notes of molasses, roasted malt, chocolate, brown malt and dark malts. A wonderful best in class brew. iep (230) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JAN 29, 2009
Pours a viscous black with little carbonation. Starts with peat-smoke on the nose, followed up by pine and tar from the hops, and chocolate/coffee stout-flavors. A smoky palate (Port Charlotte peat?) rapidly overtaken by intense hop-bitterness and sweeter malts. Lingers for a while on the sweet-ish coffee and caramel flavors, then finishes very ashy and dry. Strong hop-bitterness lingers for a long time, together with a roasty bitterness from the malts. Remarkable consistency, very thick and rich.
Overall.. there’s an impressive amount of flavors packed into this one, without being messy: a bit of a giant, with very very intense peat-smoke and ashy stout flavors.
