COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Made with the most heavily peated malt in the world from the Bruichladdich distillery. Almost pitch black and opaque, small head. Furiously peated aroma, hiding the malt, licorice and dark chocolate somewhat. Very full bodied, thick mouthfeel, like fluid bread. Dark chocolate, loads of peat, lapsang souchong tea, chocolate cake, culminating in an almost endless aftertaste that also has licorice.
Alcohol varies by batch.

Bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours black with a big fluffy tan head. The aroma has peat, smoke, ash, hints of dark chocolate and peat. The flavor punches you in the mouth with peat; additionally I got smoke, wood, earth, and perhaps a hint of anise. This is not my kind of beer. I like barrel influences and the synergy of flavors, not complete domination of one flavor, especially when it is peat. Im pretty sure this is well done, but not for me.

Na dziłalem się na polfę tarchomin. Timorf, wędzonka i dym. Niezbyt gesty. Treściwy disyć ostry stout.

330 mL bottle shared with ebone1988. 2011 vintage. The pour is a darker black, a little thin with a big, creamy, khaki colored head with a couple spots of lace. The aroma is just not good. The smoke is huge. There is a light chocolate and licorice behind it, but the smoke dominated from front to back. The flavor isnt much better. The peated malt leads into a nice chocolate milk kind of flavor and then the smoke comes cruising back. The mouth feel is a little light and more brightly carbonated with a strong smoky finish that I just dont like. Ugh.

Kolor: ciemnobruntny, klarowny.
Piana: bardzo obfita, drobnopęcherzykowa, dość trwała.
Zapach: sporo aromatw torfowej wędzonki, palonych kabli, wyczuwalny rwnież aromat dymu drzewnego, trochę aromatw palonych słodw, gorzkiej czekolady, kakao.
Smak: średnia pełnia, lekka słodowa słodycz, sporo nut wędzonki torfowej, tak jak w aromacie wyczuwalne sporo nut drzewnego dymu, wyraźne nuty palonych słodw, gorzkiej czekolady, kakao, delikatna kwaskowość palonych słodw, średnia goryczka, lekko kawowa.
Wysycenie: średnie w kierunku niskiego.

From a 330ml bottle on 13//2017. Pours a dark brown with almost no head. The aroma features caramel, chocolate, soy and some light smoke. The flavour is rich, mirroring the nose - caramel, chocolate, soy and campfire ash, along with lots of peatiness, some roasted malt, and a firm dash of bitterness.. the texture is slightly syrupy with soft carbonation. Very nice, though quite similar to a number of other dark smoked De Molens Ive tried of late.

Schwer vertorft und gut durchgestylt. Der Punk unter den Imperial Stouts. Hat fett Dreck unter den Fingerngeln und ist im Kern doch ein ser Softie. Phenolgrando und wilder Berrytrip ??? All inklusive 😁. Sanft, ein wenig prickelnd und durchaus elegant ausgewogen!!! 0,33/3. DE MOLEN BREWERY POWER 😃..BUDDEL!!

Mmmmmn. Boozey with heavy notes of molasses, licorice, chocolate... ah heck, read the description in the brewer up above. It delivers on all of its promises, as De Molen always does with their imp stouts. The smoke on this one is subtle, and the peat isnt, in a good way; it creeps in on the centuries-long aftertaste and lingers like a good scotch should, but with warm tones of chocolatey coffee. It isnt the *best* De Molen Imp Stout Ive had, but lets be clear: Every imp-stout De Molen releases has been excellent. Theyre world class, and if youre wondering why a brewery with such weirdly plain labelling commands such high prices by the bottle... one sip of this, or any of their stouts, will leave you with no further questions. Aroma: 7/10, surprisingly restrained off the tulip glass, but wonderfully opening in the mouth, with lovely notes of chocolate, coffee, strong molasses booziness, and tea. Appearance: 5/5, black pour with a thin brown head of lacing, yup, looks like a good imp stout! Taste: 9/10. Sweet, lightly chocolate-coffee, wonderful notes of malt, hints of plum. Not the most complex stout at first, but its really all about that long, wonderful aftertaste. Really, this is a beer you only have to sip once a minute or so. Palate: 5/5, oily, thick mouthfeel, with almost no astringency, and only the barest bit of carbonation on the tongue. Long finish lingers without ever being overpowering, just long, long sustained notes of malted coffees and chocolate and tea. (Theyre honestly not kidding about that lapsang souchong notes. Its there. Very pleasant.) Overall: 17/20. I think that De Molen has entirely hit the target they wanted to with this beer. Absolutely no flaws, and wonderfully balanced, just tremendously delicious from first sip to last. I expect nothing less from De Molen, and they have risen to my expectations once again. Well done!
