4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Disclaimer: I have a high tolerance of spicy food
Very dark beer, brown head, on tap in the Molen Bar.
Aroma is great, chocolate, coffee, smoke and chili go together very well. The taste is strong enough to survive the spiciness, and is well balanced. The mouthfeel is great, and the burning pepper forces you to drink this slowly, very slowly. I have never had or heard of anything like this, and I think it is simply amazing. Judging by other comments, the chili may be too much for some, but if you can stand it, do give it a try.
Batch #5. I love hot food. Hot doesn't mean good. There should be some flavor to the hot. If its done right, very hot is very nice. So basicly, there is a difference in just throwing chilli's on food and making proper hot food. The same with this beer. I just taste a regular imperial stout with a lot hot in it. It is well balanced, but to be honoust...no... not in my beer please. I'm a big fan of De Molen, but sometimes i run into stuff they make which is not for me. mjik83 (1722) - Maastricht, NETHERLANDS - NOV 30, 2017

Uiterlijk: zwart met kleine cremelaag
Aroma en smaak: neus is chocolade, gebrande mouten, smaak is koffie, chocolade, flinke madame Jeanette die blijft hangen, bitter
Conclusie: erg lekkere combi R4N5H (1375) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 2, 2017
On tap at Brouwcafe de Molen, Bodegraven on 29-Apr-2017. 2016 BA version - 11.2% ABV. Dark brown with a thin beige coloured head. Aroma of cocao nibs, petter and malt. Full body and subtle carbonation. Taste is chilli pepper on the fore, with a long lasting burn. Chocolate, caramel, sweet malt, roasted coffee and dark fruits. An interesting beer, but too much chilli makes this difficult to enjoy in quantity. 90 (946) - BELGIUM - MAR 5, 2017
In aroma zit een zeer aantrekkelijke rokerigheid. Ik dronk deze op Alvinne Beerfestival. Deze versie was iets te pikant om de andere smaken aan bod te laten komen. Het verpest een beetje het feest. Iznogud (4714) - CROATIA - JAN 1, 2017
On tap at Boreft Beer Festival, 2016. Pours black, small beige head. Roasted malts, chocolate, spicy, chilli. Just spicy enough to burn, but not to totally take over. Full bodied, soft carbonation.

Bottled at 11% ABV, Madame jeanettes, bottled on Sept 16th 2013, EBC 230 EBU 105, large sample. Dark brown color, short frothy head. Aroma of roast, coffee, chocolate, bit spicy sausage, slight smoked peppers. Quite spicy in taste, dark choc, milk choc. Spicy pepper seems to be quite mellow, at least to what I expected. Might have become a bit less with age (3 yrs old now). But thats good. Likeable. tomer (3853) - Rishon Le Zion, ISRAEL - OCT 17, 2016
At BBF, opaque extremly dark brown color, vanila aroma with light coffee and dark bread with just a hint of spice and shrubs, quite sweet with a hot sensation becoming stronger, quite spice with dark fruits blending in. Hot sensation just a bit to Much making it a little difficult to drink, But still quite nice. Desverger (13727) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - OCT 10, 2016
2016, Bodegraven - pours black with tiny tan head. Roasted malty with notes of chocolate and overt chilli, burnt charred notes, spicy hoppy finish. Not for me.
