Backlog. Tap @ BBF 30 Oct 2009. Murky brown color. Quite a big head with good retention (!). Aroma’s: smoked, cognac, oak, with sweetness & chocolate retronasal. Flavor is medium sweet, cognac, chocolate. Strong alcohol feel, warming. Full body, syruppy. Finishes with a medium bitterness. Awesome. madmitch76 (25286) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JUN 6, 2012

On tap at Borefts I. Unlike the base beer this version is cloudy amber - brown. Smooth oak with just a touch of vanilla and a very nicely judged amount of Cognac. Smooth woody brandy finish. No real alcohol heat! Lovely lovely beer!
Genial!! 11/13/13/14//14

Unclear medium orange brown color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy wood, chips - spruce wood, cognac, caramel, dried fruit. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat.
Tasted and tapped at the first, great, Borefts Beer Festival 2009 @ De Molen. Brown, orange colored brew. Sweet, oak aroma with a lot of cognac. Flavor is also a lot of cognac, sweet malty, some dried fruits, sharp warming alcohol. Great beer, but a little too much cognac maybe. Also tried 2/3 normal De Molen IJsbock with 1/3 of this one and that was a booming combination. MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 30, 2009
A Mes rate. Draught at 1st Borefts Beer Festival.harrisoni (19159) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - NOV 15, 2009
Cloudy mahogany with a thin film of off white collar. Looks like it means business and my god it does. Amazing smoky wood and sweet congac litterally fall out of the glass and bombard the senses. It’s seriously over the top yet, for all I’d like to cut this beer in half, it’s just awesome. The dry, charred oak and the boozy spirits sit together REALLY well. Some alcohol flavours but remarkably little heat, burnt fruit pie, and excellent caramel. Surprisingly drinkable for what it is, yet I know I couldn’t drink much of it. Way over the top and over indulgent but wow wow wow, it’s just an epic beer.
On tap at Borefts BF 09. Very cognac-y. It is good, but maybe not as good as the 2 other versions. Some toffee and some goodish orange fruit. Bullit (4675) - Burgos, SPAIN - NOV 7, 2009
Rating 1300. Tap @ Borefts Beer Festival 2009. Hazy ruby red - brown colour, off-white lacings. Aroma of sweet cognac and fruits. Flavour of sweet malts, cognac, oak, caramel. Lovely. altonbrownd (5897) - Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA - NOV 7, 2009
On tap at BBF. Nice brown body. Nose quite oaky with malts. Nice sweet taste of oaks and cocnac. Oaky and bitter finish. Seriously high ABV and I just loved it. My favorite of the three.
