On tap at Borefts I. Unlike the base beer this version is cloudy amber - brown. Smooth oak with just a touch of vanilla and a very nicely judged amount of Cognac. Smooth woody brandy finish. No real alcohol heat! Lovely lovely beer!
Tap at De Molen event 2009 ... Hazy brown ... sweet fruity toffee malt nose ... juicy toffee ... rich and deep ... little apple... Koelschtrinker (20403) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - MAY 29, 2011
Genial!! 11/13/13/14//14

On tap at Borefts BF 09. Very cognac-y. It is good, but maybe not as good as the 2 other versions. Some toffee and some goodish orange fruit. bierkoning (13355) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - NOV 1, 2009
Tap @ 1st BBF De Molen. Very woody oaky aroma with some mandarin curacao and mango. Sweet flavor, very oaky with melon and mango. Pipe tobacco in the aftertaste. The experimental beer lacks balance, because of the dominant wood. Nevertheless a very interesting experiment. thewolf (12598) - Kolding, DENMARK - NOV 3, 2009
Tap @ 1st BBF, De Molen.Fin (10541) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - NOV 4, 2009
Pours muddy brown with a small film head. Aroma has lots of cognac, sweet caramel, oak, some herbal notes and raisins. Alcohol as well. Highish carbonation, nice dry and oily mouthfeel. Flavour is very sweet, caramel, some sharp alcohol and lots of cognac. There is really a lot of cognac going on in there... Still fairly drinkable.
Had this at the Borefts Beer Festival, De Molen Brewery, Bodegraven, Netherlands 30-10-09 I had only a very small sample of this courtesy of Ken? Cheers mate. Much better than the Simcoe version, pours mid brown bit murky, quite fruity once again the alcohol is very well disguised, the cognac really does show, good stuff. Tap @ BBF. I can understand that some people think this is too much, but I really enjoyed the oak and cognac in the aroma, with the marvellous IJsbock as a firm body to carry these aromas and flavors. I just loved it!
