Borefts IX. Day 2. Keg. Almost clear dark brown beer, small tan head. Smooth palate, semi dry and with mild carbonation. Good dark malts, some dark chocolate. Modest peaty whiskey and mild whiskey soaked fruits on the semi dry finish. All right for a Bowmore BA.
Bottle bought at last year's borefts. Pours ink black, small head dissipated immediately. Aroma is complex and layered; Loads of whisky, sweet and dark malts, cherry, plums, raisins, licorice, quite a bit of wood from the barrel, chocolate, some coffee, generally medium roastiness, I'd say. Not a lot of booze considering the abv. Intense thick and oily mouthfeel. Flavour is sweeter than expected but hey, this is 15.7%. As complex as aroma. Not boozy at all, very nicely malty, with the complex malt bill paying off in my opinion, nice balanced malt sweetness with some caramel, medium roastiness. Whisky is still really dominant, and a lot of Islay peat is now coming through. Almost a bit too much at first, but halfway through the bottle I am really enjoying it. Licorice and dark fruits (figs, raisins, prunes) are nicely accompanied by chocolate and some mocha notes. Finishes sweet and a tad warming, with a nice Islay whisky flavour lingering for a while. Mmmmh I had to warm up to this one, but then I truly loved it - amazing stuff once more from Bodegraven! k0mpsa (3262) - Tuusula, FINLAND - JAN 21, 2018

LCI. Van de tap @DeMolenBrewpub. Kaal & Krul Bowmore BA.
Dark color, medium dark brown head. Aroma of soft peaty bowmore, molasses, tar and chocolate. Malty bitterness in taste, slight dry for a RIS, but also some marshmallow like sweetness. Bowmore is done really subtle, which I absolutely prefer. Like Colin said, it could have been a bit more full bodied, but it has all the potential to become a de Molen classic. Glad they can still do it. androman (3000) - Maarssen, NETHERLANDS - DEC 22, 2017

Draught @ 9th. BBF 2017 [ 9th Borefts Beer Festival 2017 ] @ Brouwerij de Molen, Bodegraven, Netherlands.
[ As De Molen Kaal & Krul ].
Hazy - murky dark brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, wood, meat, smoke - smoke wood. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, sugary, wood, meat, smoked, roasted, dark malt, alcohol. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic.
Bottle. Black oily pour. Aroma of strong smoke, peat, chocolate, ripe fruit, caramel, mild licorice, roasted malt and booze, really delicious. Flavor has heavy bacony peat, ripe fruit, smoke, boozy syrup, caramel, chocolate, coffee, oak, dates and a long warming finish with a nice booze burn. Holy shit this is heavy. Extreme, yet still balanced, fantastic.
