Aroma is sweet - dark fruits. A little metallic in the taste. Smooth palate. A little stodgy. Darkish red, frothy head. Slightly vegetal hops according to Anna, Phil maps it onto detergent.. Almost bocky with its sweet, mashy tastes. Under-attenuated. Some liquorice later.
33 cl. bottle / purchased @ Hopduvel // the list of ingredients on this is ridiculous: chocolate & caramel malts, cinnamon, laurel (?), cardamom (?), anis (iew),… // bright ruby coloured with basically no head save for some lacing on the side of the glass // smells very sweet, liquorish, caramel, candy, cotton candy, black liquorish candy & a very odd sweet vintage like smell (not a real vintage smell / this wasn’t a vintage bottle either) // taste is very sweet with lots of liquorish, anis, candy, toffee, brown sugar, caramel, thick, sticky, herbal, touch bitter in the back, booze, sweet cellar in the back,… very weird & honestly I am not much of a fan of most of these flavours but well-done but given the sweetness & weird liquorish / herbal flavours this has going on, I doubt that many are going to be crazy about thick // low carb. & sticky Ober (2811) - Bommelerwaard, NETHERLANDS - APR 26, 2012
A clear brown colored beer, with a thick foamy beige head. The aroma has notes of chocolate with dark fruits. The taste of dark malt and fruit, hints of chocolate bitter with some spices. The aftertaste is some sweet with bitter. RoyceH (1200) - Hesperange, LUXEMBOURG - APR 26, 2012
Bottle, Mi Orge, Mi Houblon. Pours completely flat, ruby and clear. Nose is sweet, cinnamon, warm fruit, sickly, capers, cloves, teak. Mouth is herby, highly metallic iron taste (the taste blood gives), fruit, dark fruit, plum, leather, spices come in just before the iron hits, quite a complex blend, but not long enough lasting to work out what’s there. Some star anise. Long warmth at the end, touch of alcohol, smooth end. Bit odd, not necessarily bad, just a bit too much going on for my liking. Not the flowing, well-written beer I usually expect from De Molen.
