Bottle pour 2013..pours a medium black with a larger than expected head..nose is booming with coffee and chocolate, really nice aroma..mouthfeel follows nose with smooth as can be coffee, followed by some bitter chocolate, hard to fathom how smooth the coffee is but more delicate than any coffee beer I can recall, a bit more carbonation than anticipated is the only real downside to this, pretty amazing stout skortila (5873) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - FEB 27, 2017

Bottle at home ’Wijsdier Luwak Bier’, unbelievably rich in flavours. Coffee, roast, full chocolate body. Totally awesome, and probably the best beer I’ve had in a couple of months.

Bottle. Sensoric. Pitch black with small, light brown head. Almost none head retention and lacing. Aromas are mainly moderate coffee, chocolate and up-front dried fruits (raisins), slightly woody. Taste is definitely sweet, fruity with lots of dark fruit accents. Overall nice, not malty and sugar packed with strong chocolate, fudge neither toffee accents. Even at this age, the pour is lively, producing a big tan head that holds itself so long in the glass. Color is black, of course. Aromas are obviously coffee front & center, but there’s also a huge chocolate fudge or Dutch chocolate brownie note following. Surprising how fresh this beer smells after more than four years. Some subtle dried fruits in the aroma as well (maybe dates). Taste is absolutely rich and decadent—gigantic blast of bittersweet chocolate initially and then transitions into a coffee note that’s soooo smooth and well-balanced; not too bitter, acidic, or tart. The end is where the coffee stands out on its own and shows off some of its alcoholic strength as well. A faint dried fruit plus honey sweetness is there but it’s pretty much covered up by the chocolate & coffee. The booze gets super strong after it warms up! Texture is chewy, full-bodied, hot, and astringent from the strong coffee & alcohol. To be honest, the flavors here are two-dimensional and lack a wide range of complexity. That doesn’t make it bad…not at all…because this brew makes up for it by presenting such a special experience. It’s a distinct example of Dutch chocolate combined with ridiculously high-end coffee in a beer.

Bottle 2013 vintage thanks to deanso. Almost black with barely any head. Some dark chocolate, wood, light mold, hint of chocolate, hay, dust, paper, dried berries. Light sweet, medium bitter and very light sour. Medium bodied with watery way. Probably way past its prime, though deanso and sjogro still like it so maybe it’s me. Not good.
