Bottle and served in my Iechyd Da snifter: Pours a deep brown with an initial big tan head but that fades quickly and left minimal lacework upon the glassware. The aroma smacks of coffee, roast, toast, chocolate, walnuts, char, and tobacco malt notes along with a moderate helping of grassy and herbal hops. The taste follows suit with dominate coffee overtones supported by sweet and roasted malts. Some noble hop and alpha hop character along with a dash of cavendish pipe tobacco. The mouth feel is lively and ashy, a bit thin but that is expected with the majority of coffee stouts. Overall a very nice brew but an utter waste of a rare coffee just to make a statement. Any solid single origin coffee would have work just as well, perhaps or likely better.

Quite old bottle @ home. Black with no head. Loads of coffee in the taste and aftertaste. Pretty great.

Bottled: 04/18/2012, sampled: 11/06/2016. Even at this age, the pour is lively, producing a big tan head that holds itself so long in the glass. Color is black, of course. Aromas are obviously coffee front & center, but theres also a huge chocolate fudge or Dutch chocolate brownie note following. Surprising how fresh this beer smells after more than four years. Some subtle dried fruits in the aroma as well (maybe dates). Taste is absolutely rich and decadentgigantic blast of bittersweet chocolate initially and then transitions into a coffee note thats soooo smooth and well-balanced; not too bitter, acidic, or tart. The end is where the coffee stands out on its own and shows off some of its alcoholic strength as well. A faint dried fruit plus honey sweetness is there but its pretty much covered up by the chocolate & coffee. The booze gets super strong after it warms up! Texture is chewy, full-bodied, hot, and astringent from the strong coffee & alcohol. To be honest, the flavors here are two-dimensional and lack a wide range of complexity. That doesnt make it badnot at allbecause this brew makes up for it by presenting such a special experience. Its a distinct example of Dutch chocolate combined with ridiculously high-end coffee in a beer.

Bottle 2013 vintage thanks to deanso. Almost black with barely any head. Some dark chocolate, wood, light mold, hint of chocolate, hay, dust, paper, dried berries. Light sweet, medium bitter and very light sour. Medium bodied with watery way. Probably way past its prime, though deanso and sjogro still like it so maybe its me. Not good.

330ml bottle from Park Royal Liquor Store. Bottled on 19/04/2012. Pours an opaque dark brown with a huge dark beige head. Aroma is coffee, grassy, licorice, chocolate and leather notes. Taste is sweet, slightly boozy, coffee. Cold coffee aftertaste. Very good stuff.

Aroma of earthy chocolate, green peppers, coffee, leather, tobacco and raisins. Murky brown color with no head, low carbonation. Taste of tobacco, earthy, soy sauce, green peppers, coffee, leather, very complex, but not super pleasant. I think this one is a bit old (3 years and 9 months) and the coffee has gone a bit stale.

Rating #1851 - 2015.08.07- Bottle from CBI - Pours a midnight black with a bubbly tan head. Aroma is cat-shit coffee, or what I assume cat-shit coffee smells like. Its bold, roasty, earthy, floral. Palate is much the same. A hidden gem.

Pours opaque black with a large brown head which hangs around for ages. Aroma is coffee, caramel, vanilla, molasses. Taste is sweet molasses, vanilla sweet, caramel sweet, really smooth roasty coffee, a hint of berry acidity. Thick body with a luxurious mouthfeel.

330ml bottle. Purchased this beer when I found out what it was. Considering what it is this beer is fantastic! Intense stout with a considerable coffee backbone.

Bottle from Kris Wines. Had this a couple of years. Opens with very little carboantion. Pours opaque very very dark brown to black, no head. Nose is like cold black coffee, dusty, coffee grains, cocoa dust, slight metallic, sweet, dark chocolate. Taste is black coffee, dark chocolate, coffee grains, brown sugar, roasted malt. Mouthfeel has almost no carbonation.
