Bottled. Aroma of almost pure smoke with a light sourness in the background. Cloudy, beige irregular head, good lace. Sweet, smoke, light bitter, some varnish, little sticky. Although not as complex as most rauchbieren from Bamberg still a nice example of the style. Otje (678) - Veendam, NETHERLANDS - SEP 14, 2005
pretty dark beer with lots of floaties and a huge deminishing head. aroma: smoky, malty and fruity. taste: very smoky, bit fruity, yeasty, caramel and a bit malty. finishes bitter and also fruity. medium bit sticky mouthfeel, lots of CO2. EToH is well hidden. nice, good beer. sayravai (4710) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUN 30, 2005
(Bottled) Muddy brown color with a large, mostly fading head. Strongly ham-smoky and tarry aroma with caramely malt. Smoothly malty, tar, menthol and smoked ham flavor. Hides the ABV well. Medium-bodied, smoothly carbonated palate. Interesting and quite pleasant, although the tar and smoke pretty much cover everything else.
