Bottled. Small sample. Old note. The aroma has booze, hint of wine, peat, chocolate, vanilla. Black coloured beer with a thin, beige head. The taste is light bitter, moderate sweet and has vanilla, chocolate, booze, oak. Very nice stuff.

33cl bottle. Poured a clear dark brown with a fizzy short lived tan head. The aroma is rich roasty sweet malt, over ripe red berry fruit, molasses alcohol. The flavour is moderate sweet with a smooth rich fruity alcohol palate. Full bodied with lively carbonation. Super smooth after the fizz has gone and the alcohol is well in the background.

Smoked flavours, salted caramel, sweet, dark fruits, dark chocolate, cacao, whiskey. Very dark, murky brown, small, creamy, dark beige head. Medium sweet. Toasted malts, chocolate, dark, fruit liqueur, ripe prunes, oak, a touch of red wine, a touch of vanilla, burnt molasses. Beautiful Imperial Stout, great explosion of all sorts of flavours. Bottle at Strombird, Camberwell.

Bottle courtesy of Euro Summer Santa. Thank you! Pours oily blackish very dark brown with a very small mocha head that doesnät leave any trace worth mentioning while quickly dissipating. Smell is malty and tiny smokey with roasted malts, sweet savoury dark bread, caramel, vanilla fudge, charred wood, dark roast coffee, high quality dark chocolate, smoked charcuteries, burnt wood, coconut milk, bourbon alcohol and hints of green chili. Taste is sweet, bitter, malty, tiny smokey and tiny boozy. Mouthfeel is flat, soft, round, tiny oily, slightly astringent, slightly boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with roasty malts, smoked charcuteries and plenty of bourbon barrel character. Very tasty but would have loved some slight carbonation to improve both nose and mouthfeel.

UPDATED: DEC 15, 2015 Aroma has some clear barrel notes and a bit of smokiness. I don’t know what types of barrels were used but the aroma indicates some peated scotch. But it may be only from the smoked malts. The taste doesn’t have that smokiness, only some barrel character and a bit of chocolate. Balanced and easy drinking. Alcohol is not present in the taste or aroma. Another good one from De Molen.
