UPDATED: JUN 9, 2014 Bottle (330 ml). From JulienHuxley, thanks! Bottled on July 9th 2013. Very dark brown/almost black with a small immediatly vanishing brown head and no lacing. Aroma is suspect with acidic/vinous notes, subdued smoke, some roasted malt and wooden presence. Taste is also acidic with wooden notes, roasted malt, light smoked and some alcohol in the finish. Super thin body with moderate carbonation (lots of very small bubbles though) and woodsy cheap wine finish. This one is clearly infected. If it was not of the super light body, this could be a decent sour stout, but it’s clearly not what they aimed for. I’m not lucky as it’s look like I’m the only one who had an infected bottle so far. I will revisit. 6-3-6-2-12 = 2.9
UPDATE: I tried two other bottles from the same batch and both weren’t infected. Dark brown with a medium steady brown head and little lacing. Aroma is of smoke, roasted malt, whiskey notes, red and dark fruits, vanilla and leathery notes. Taste is quite fruity with a good amount of smoke, whiskey, alcohol warming, leathery notes and tobacco.Full bodied. Medium carbonation. Smokey finish. Different than most of De Molen RIS. Bottle 330 ml, green waxed, into a Borefts taster at home, ABV 11%
Pours totally black with a head that begins like bubbles but eventually forms a small brown foam, average retention, light lacing around the glass.
Aroma of black olive pit, roasted malts, not much smoke, some bourbon, notable alcohol.
NIce taste, roasted malts, not very sweet and with light bitterness on the finish and the aftertaste, warming feeling on the body from the alcohol, whiskey notes, again not much smoke.
Medium thick body, low carbonation.
Overall a very good imperial stout from De Molen, really enjoyable.

Pours very dark, almost black. Small tan head. Aroma of oak, raisins. Thick mouthfeel, more oak and raisins. Sweetish, roasted, very discrete smoke. >> Pours clear sepia, low carbonation, a god blessed head forms with some high pouring and coaxing. Spotty yellow lacing. Nose is sweet prosciutto, rich smoked meat, salt cured ham, lemon pepper steak. Taste up front is warming, nicely bitter, smoked ancho chilies, seasoned flank steak, savory smoked pate. Oh man this one is good...finally after about 5 flops from De Molen and a $100 wasted, this one delivers.
