Hazy amber beer with a small pale cream coloured head. Palate is slightly soft and semi dry with fine carbonation. Marzen like malt, a slight nuttyness. Light malt cream. Light marmalade hops. Light dry finish. Pretty good. a touch more hops would have set this one alight!
Bottle: Amber coloured, cloudy, small off-white foamy layer, grainy-fruity nose with a distinctive "medical" hoppy background; solid dry bitter flavour with a residual sweetness, medium bodied; lingering dryish bitter-hoppy finish with a subued, but still detectable, fruitiness and maltiness. Not too demanding, but quite nice... stouby (4666) - Holbæk, DENMARK - AUG 5, 2013

330 ml bottle bought at The Bottle Shop in Sai Kung.
Cloudy hazy dark amber colour with dusty yeast sediments; Half-finger head and off-white foam which lasts for 2 minutes; Fairly good lacing and notable carbonation; Very nice and fragrant aroma of grapefruit, orange, honey, molasses, ale malt, toffee, and light caramel. Aroma can be smelt a feet away; Pleasant sweet taste of grapefruit, floral petals, ale malt, light caramel, burnt toffee, light chocolate, light liquorices, spices, bitter lime, and very grassy hops; Medium body, slick and quite thick palate; Taste profile is sweet and very hoppy light caramel ale base. Grapefruit is quite refreshing, brings out the caramel and burnt toffee characters in full force. Quite a brew! The 7.3% alcohol is very well hidden and managed throughout. Definitely invisible during most of the session and works on you ever so slowly. Excellent! Hoppiness definitely packs a punch, with full force grapefruit nose, moderate liquorices and sharp lime taste, and a pretty seductive astringency all through the end to balance the sweetness. Very nice! Fairly dry after taste; Very sweet grapefruity and tasty to mouth.
Comments: Not your typical German Hellerbock, but a modern, fusioned boozed-up IPA. The grapefruit nose and taste is not mind-blowing, but still fresh and loud enough to pay attention. Sweetness and hops is well balanced, and booze is glowing and warming, very well managed and expressed. A very nice fusion bock with room for improvement to be truly great.
33 cl bottle @ home. Light amber color, slightly hazy. Off white head, with small layer retention. Aroma’s: malt, caramel, citrussy hops, some fruit (apricot). Retronasal the (flowery) hops are a bit more prominent, but not extreme. Flavor is moderately bitter with a light malty sweetness for balance. Body is medium, albeit a bit thin. Moderate bitter finish. Pretty authentic (German) Heller Bock. fonefan (49293) - VestJylland, DENMARK - JUL 10, 2013

Bottle 330ml. @ home.
Clear medium yellow orange colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, orange - citrus, fruity, grapefruit, tropical fruit. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, soapy, hoppy, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass:
Medium sized, changes slowly into a sticky thicker lacing/smaller head on top of a hazy amber orange colored beer.
Aromas of glue, malts, grains, fermented corn, older flowers, leaves, light caramel, light fudge, marzepin and some orange.
Flavours of glue, liquor, alcohol, bitter, spices, earth, sharp grainy, light cream, some sharper plant extracts and sharper herbs.
Aftertaste is bitter, sharp herbal, dry, yeast, stingy, sweet, marzepin...
Low to medium carbo, creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied and a creamy texture.
Strange beer as I am not a fan of this style because to many beers in this style are just meh... But let it breath for 30 minuted and it improves and makes it more drinkable.
