En riktigt mörk öl med brunt skum. Doftar av hårt rostad malt och lite vanilj. En komplex smak av ekfat, rostad malt och kaffe. En öl att sitta och sippa på medans man läser en god bok.

Bottle from Borrestein. Pours pitch black with a creamy dark tan head. The aroma is hard roasted malt, bittering hops, chocolate, coffee and bourbon. The flavour is hard roasted, bourbon, vanilla, coffee, chocolate, bittering hops and finishes quite roasted. Another successfull Impy from Menno!

Pitch black. Still and oily. Strong. Smells a lot of malts and is quite sour bitter. Roast after taste. Dry. My friend had a sip and said ’vodka with soy sauce’, which somehow captures something what’s going on with this one although that’s completely wrong. In all honesty, not the greatest stout I’ve got from de Molen.

On tap at the brewpub. Pitch black, thin beige head. Aroma of booze, boubon, vanilla, oak, hard roasted malts, some fruity notes and a bit of coffee. Flavour is sweet, boozy, bourbon, hard roasted malts, coffee, bitter roasted and sweet oak finish. Lots going on but a bit too much booze imo. Medium bodied, although the alcohol makes it feel a bit thin at times, slick mouthfeel. A sipper.

UPDATED: AUG 31, 2011 Una delle più strane imperial stout mai bevute! Alcolica, cioccolatosa, dolce, con ottimo corpo e bella frizzante.

from erzbierschof.ch - pitch black beer with a little dark beige foam left; solid aroma of black chocolate and licorice; fair yet well-integrated woody notes, whisky-like tones, powerful malt backbone wit an intial sweetness soon overwhelmed by a robust bitterness; moderate carbonation; thick and sticky; very long bitter and roasted chocolatey finish with hints of licorice, mocha and strong notes of whisky and wood - a beauty!
