(draught) pours a murky deep ruby colour with a creamy off-white head. aroma of dried dark fruit, caramel and kiwi, slightly musty with a hint of cherries. flavour is mostly the same, lots of dark fruit, with strong notes of pineapple, some caramel and a hint of pale malts in the slightly alcoholic semi-dry finish. heavy-bodied with average carbonation.

Thanks to bierkoning for that one. Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass brownish, nice head. Starts strong, fine spicy, some sourish notes. Nice caramel notes in the background, but the finish is dominated by dry alcoholic notes. Starts better than it ends.

erickok (6037) - Leuven, BELGIUM - MAR 20, 2012
Glowing amber body, big bubbly light tan head. Light haze. Big aroma, enormously fruity, strawberry, cherry, blueberry, fermented fruit, candy, wine gums, some rye. Very sweet, but rich. Oily mouthfeel, bit sticky. Very Belgian. Pretty sweet body, balanced a bit by a good amount of straightforward bitterness. Alcohol shines through. Full mouthfeel feel, not an easy drink. Over the top maybe, but I can appreciate this. End with spiced, pickled orange peel. Not super refined though. Hard for me to assign a style or think of a comparable beer. Glad I tried this.

jaghana (6014) - Strasbourg (Alsace), FRANCE - MAR 12, 2012
Bottle 33cl from bierkoning, a cloudy amber-red beer with huge head and good retention. Nose is on barley sugar and honey. Aroma is very bitter and stringent with bitter orange peel notes and grapefruit hops, very bitter with intense resin and grassy hops. Very strange kind of beer, nice anyway a bit sharp.

Draught @ TBF ’11. Very sweet beer, bit of a manderine smell to it. Bitter, malty, fresh. Good beer, not extreme.

Bottle from De Molen online shop. Dark bold amber body with fluffly head. Nose is sweet, caramel. Taste is hoppy, dark roasty malts, sugar bursts. Some bitter and sweet in the finish. Quite an enjoyable little ale!

Pours deep hazy gold into a tulip. Off-white head with good retention recedes leaving sheet lacing. Sour tropical fruit aromas. Sweet dry caramel with nutty toast and hay in the middle and a lasting bitter earth finish.

skortila (5793) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - JAN 29, 2012
Bottled. The aroma has citric hops, caramel, toffee malts, light toasted, oranges, hint of spice (cinnamon or something alike). Hazy, orange-brown coloured beer with an off-white, creamy and rocky, big head. The taste is light-moderate bitter initially and has caramel malty sweetness. The finish is more citric hopbitter. Medium bodied. Good.

Bottle, 330 ml, into a snifter, ABV 7.5%, bottled on 22/7/11 Deep red to light amber colour on the body, with a tall off white and froathy head. Very good retention nevertheless, leaving medium lacing on the glass. Body is clear with good activity in it. Aroma is quite malty, with caramel, light roasted malts, nicely hopped with noble hops. Very nice taste, sweet, with caramel and toffee, light hoppy, with the alcohol being quite obvious and enhancing the flavours. Medium thick body, nice carbonation with a bite on the tongue. Mildly dry palate. Overall a very nice take on the style, really enjoyed it.

ClubGonzo (5668) - Bergen, NORWAY - SEP 24, 2011
Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. Pours a hazy rust-colored body with a medium off-white head. Nose is toffee and licorice tones, with hints of pine, grass and caramel. Taste is fuzzy, grassy hops up front; then the beer mellows down on the palate with lots of licorice, pine and cough medicinal tones before a finishing off with a tight, near-astringent bitterness. A bit rough, perhaps a bit of cellaring would smoothen things up? Anyway, a pretty decent ESA from De Molen.
