330ml bottle. Pours dark amber with a large, frothy head. Aroma is alcohol soaked fruitcake and marzipan. Taste has caramel and fruitcake, with apple in the finish and alcohol on the aftertaste. The_Osprey (7984) - Richmond, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 24, 2013
Slightly chilled bottle. Two years and one day old. Dark orange/red with the usual huge head which endures. Smell - old ale, caramel, yeast, molasses, tangerine. Carbonation - mid to soft. Taste - typical De Molen caramel, liquorice, sweet honey flavours with a decent dose of bitterness. Enjoyable high quality beer. Not quite to my taste though, which reduces the rating slightly. Aroma fruits, peach, pineapple, spice, toffee.

Bottle at home. It’s an English strong ale eh? Well, can’t remember a better one, more traditional ones but who gives a fuck about that? I love this stuff. Amber with a thick yellowed off white head. Nice aroma of malts, some strength, berries, caramel. Flavour has some spice, citrus and hop bitterness, also with a non English yeasty notes. Yeah. Foffern (1879) - Bodø, NORWAY - OCT 27, 2011
Dark hazy amber with a big, thick head. Aromas of raisins, caramel, bread, leather and woody. Some roasty smoke in the end. Lightly sweet, medium bitterness not lingering. Above medium body, slick and little bit oily, flat carbo. Overall it feels like a strong english ale with a hint of Belgium. Reminds a bit of a british barley wine.

Bottle at home. Dark orange amber, thick bubbly orangey white head. Mango, slight honey, thick perfumed hop nose. Juicy citrus front flows into slight estery sweetness, with a drying peppery hop linger. MoritzF (9901) - Ottobrunn, GERMANY - JAN 31, 2012
(bottle, 33cl, 7.5% abv) Slightly hazy, copper to deep amber colour with a medium-sized tanned foamy head. Slightly sugary sweet malty and distinctively fruity aroma with notes of candied berries, strawberries and peaches, accompanied by shades of caramel in the background. Bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Cara-malty and fruity taste with present herbal and slightly woody hops; dry-ish bitter hoppy and quite lasting finish with fruity spots. Really nice. 25.XII.11 visionthing (5363) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - FEB 1, 2012
Bottle from Vinmonopolet, Vika. Pours lightly clouded amber with a huge, frothy off-white head. Aroma of yeast, spices and malt with earthy notes. Smells a bit strange, but quite pleasant taste. maledictum (782) - Pyongyang, NORTH KOREA - FEB 2, 2012
Bottle. Clear deep red pour, thick creamy off-white head. Aroma of grassy and floral hops and some tea leaves. Flavor is a nice balance between strong bitter hops and a nice rich malt base. Thick body and very drinkable. tfredvik (1941) - Oslo, NORWAY - FEB 7, 2012
A slightly hazy medium amber reddish body with a creamy, long-lived head that laces the glass very well. The aroma is sweet, loaded with pleasantly overripe fruits, e.g. apples. Also caramel and some spices. Medium sweet taste with a medium to heavy bitter finish. The flavours are actually not that intense, and they are far from being as sweet as the aroma led me to believe. There is a nice resinous touch in the aftertaste, but also caramel and sweet plum, some faint dark dried fruits, citric hints and some alcohol. Medium to full body, creamy and smooth texture, soft to medium carbonation. Good stuff!
