Nice dark amber colored beer. Complex but balanced taste. The alcoholpercentage might be 17, but it tastes like less. Sweet, syropy. Nice brew!

Palme (4816) - Bergen, NORWAY - AUG 18, 2011
0.18l bottle from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen shared with ClubGonzo and the rest of Bergen Tasting Crew. Pours a cloudy yeasty light brown body with no head. Aroma is beautiful cognac, woody, strong raisins notes, sweet figs, chocolate, dark burned caramel, surprisingly low alcohol and hints of sweet plums. Beautiful indeed! Medium-bodied, no carbonation and it has a light oily mouthfeel. Tastes really really sweet. Extremely well hidden alcohol. Nice notes of milk chocolate, some dried dark fruits and hints of nuts. Lots of sweet dates and raisins in the finish, and it actually ends a bit conflicting with a both light dry and light watery finish. Good beer, and it can actually remind me a bit of the fantastic Utopias.

Toffee colour with no head. Aroma is of raisins and burnt sugar. Taste is syrupy and delicious - sweet raisins, brown sugar and caramel. Quite a sweet beer, more like a liqueur or fine muscat.

ClubGonzo (5685) - Bergen, NORWAY - AUG 12, 2011
Bottle from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen, shared with Palme and friends. Near-murky, nut-brown body with virtually no head. Nose is caramel, wood, alcohol, vanilla, cognac and hints of licorice and soy sauce. Complex and really great. Taste is slightly inferior: the promised complexity of the aromas don’t come through as much as I hoped for: sweet caramel, sugar, wood, figs and hints of milk chocolate. Some prunes in the aftertaste. Extremely well-hidden alcohol, despite the rather thin body - oddly enough for an ABV whopper of this proportions. Compex and nice, but it can’t keep the promises of the nose to a full extent. Still, a pretty damn nice beer in the stronger end of the spectrum.

For my #100 rating. One of the most extreme Barley Wine ever tasted. Complex, alcoholic, amazing. Fantastic!

Bottle thanks to bierkoning. Poured amber with no head and some great legs. Aroma and flavor were brown sugar, honey, and slight whiskey. Body was thick and sticky.

18cl, as Mooi & Machtig ’Cognac B.A.’, new exclusive Dutch brew Anno 2010, thx to Jeppe!, very complex brew, sweet and fruity, not too heavy for its high ABV!, balanced, hazy, nearly no head, very good brew, but very expensive!, WOW!

De molen moot and machtig cognac ba. Little nip bottle #201 of 624 it seems. Purchased at olbutikken and consumed on iu first night in oslo (twas a good day).. Pours a hazy semi-transparent mahogany reddish brown pour with minimal head. Decent lacing/legs around the sides... aroma of a light charred wood and a oozg feel throughout. A distant note of peat, slighty fruity with a sweeter caramel backing... Flavors are of a medium sweetness with dark fruits and caramel. A slightly woody aftertaste is left as well as a boozy afternote. Slighty spicy finish. Rhin to medium bodied, hardly syrupy by any means. Pretty nice and above average. Thanks jeppe. 8/4/7/3/14

Rune (13359) - Tromsø, NORWAY - JUN 19, 2011
180ml, bottle no. 103, bought at Ølbutikken in Copenhagen. Orange-brown body, missing head. Aroma of bready malts mingled with dried fruits and cognac. Complex taste profile with dried and ripe fruits, marzipan and earthy malts. A touch of cognac can be detected. Dry and sweet ending with warming alcohol. Slow sipper (Tromsø, 06.06.2011).

Bottled. Dark amber coloured. Unclear. Almost no head. ARoma of ripe fruits, sweetness, alcohol, spice and some caramel. Flavour as well is fruity, sweet and syrupy as hell. Lots of prunes and plums. Alcohol notable, but not overwhelming. Medium to full bodied. Ends on a quite sweet note. Very warming on lips and palate.
