UPDATED: JAN 2, 2015 mooi zwart, met normale bruine kraag.
aroma: kandij suiker, chocolade, caramout, gebrande mouten.

Bottle. Dark mahogony beer with a dark cream head. caramel and light toffee aroma with light cocoa. Caramel and light roast flavor with light coffee. Medium-plus bodied. Toffee and sweet malt linger with light coffee and brown sugar.

Gorgeous red-purple appearance, far too much toffee-colored head, cognac nose, bitter black currant and brandied cherries in an alcoholic wet dream. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

11.2oz bottle. Poured clear garnety-brown with a short, dense beige head.. set up nicely in the glass. The aroma picked up an interesting blend of dry-roasted chocolate, raisins, and dates, with warm fruit and some berries as it warmed.. it somehow made its way back to chocolate on the back of the nose. The flavor found a heavier dose of spiced dark fruits than the nose indicated, with chocolate and a little vanilla down deep.. berry seeds and light cocoa bitterness on the edges.. finished with a good blend of spicy, fruity Belgian yeast and chocolate. Medium-bodied and spicy on the palate.. higher carbonation.. there was a lot going on here, and I really enjoyed it.

11.2 oz bottle. Dark brown with a huge, though hastily poured, tannish head. Nose is apricot, apple and cherry preserves. Medium body, a touch foamy, slightly sticky. Taste is applesauce, candi and dried apricot. Just like drinking fruit nectar. Incredibly addictive.

12oz bottle pours a nearly opaque deep, dark mahogany brown with one ring of creamy beige head. Aroma is very boozy, prunes, raisins, rum, malt, orange peel, Belgian candy sugar, some rubber. Flavor is sweet, astringent, malt, medicinal, herbal, a little spicy too. This is really all over the map. Flavors of ancho chiles, black peppercorns, raisins, prunes, toasted bread, butter scotch candies, burnt caramel, black tea. Full, sweet but also a very peppery finish. Belgian Strong Ale? Sure, but if you told me this was a Belgian stout I would have believed it. A little messy, could probably keep in the cellar for a lot longer.

[4812-20120921] 750mL bottle. Roasted funky yeast aroma has an unpleasant pungent doggy diarrhea note at first. Murky, black brown body with a huge long-lasting head, gusher to start. Lightly soured grainy roasted old fruit flavour. Full body has quite a tangy almost sour base. Initial impression was Terrible, worse than I’ve written, but it eventually mellowed.

Bottle. Thanks to mike12da. Tons of yeast, malt, chocolate, and fumes in the nose. Thick dark brown. Big chocolate initial; slight metallic note in mid, along with a soft powdery chocolate; final extends the sweet choco, with some balancing. Smooth mouthfeel. Impregnated with chocolate, more so than most quads. Great stuff.

belgian Ale decisamente amara, poco speziata ma dal colore molto invitante. Schiuma molto persistente
