330 ml. bottle. Bottled 2/13/12. Pours a thick, lasting, varied bubble beige head, with extensive lacing, over a slightly cloudy dark reddish brown (SRM 20) body....nose is heavy fruity malts, with plum, date, raisin, brown sugar, treacle, hints of spice.....taste is heavy sweet fruits with plum, raisin, date, leading to a harsh bitter, peach pit, spice finish......mouth feel thick, sticky, astringent, alcohol warmth present, carbonation low after the initial exuberance. This falls well into the Abt/Quad piece of the Belgian Dark Strong Ale style. The bitter finish is too harsh and lingers over much. This is probably from a badly handled bottle as neither of the hops used should do this. The net effect is that the flavors are off making for a disappointment in this particular bottle. BJCP 8/3/12/5/7

Maris (1409) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - NOV 30, 2016
From a 330ml bottle on 30/11/2016 (bottled 29/6/2015, BB 29/6/2020). Pours dark brown with almost no head. The nose features prunes and caramel. Taste wise, its fairly basic but rather enjoyable - sweet dark preserved fruit (prunes, dates) with some mild burnt caramel and toffee in the mix. Theres a touch of roastiness to a fairly firm bitterness at the back. Fullish body, with very modest carbonation. Exhibits nice balance. A very good big beer.

Bottle. Dark brown color, medium beige head. Aroma of plums, raisins, dark chocalate, light roasted, light coffee. Solid malty backbone, honey, dark chocolate, light coffee and roasty taste, fruity, full body, decent hoppy. Nice one

anstei (1366) - Zurich, SWITZERLAND - NOV 18, 2016
Bottle at Erzbierschof Zurich. Pours dark brown with a coarse head. All the added stuff shows in the aroma: Caramel, chocolate, roasted malts. Some vanilla. Heavy body, sweet, barely any carbonation. Sticky sweet actually. Palate is sweet too. Very nice, but highly atypical for a quad.

Bottled: 02/13/2012, sampled: 10/18/16. Black in color with a mahogany shade if you shine a bright light thru it. Gigantic, dense tan head gives off a lot of sugary/syrupy sweetness even from a foot away. So much fruit on the nose!! Dried dark fruits (raisins, dates, plums), fresh black grapes, blackcurrant, vinous, bready malts, and some brown sugar. Do dark fruits dominate the nose? Yes, but dont let it fool youbecause the taste is somehow more complex than that! Of course it starts off with big red wine notes, but it moves towards a sort of black cherry cola, licorice, & toffee flavor before ending with malts, toasted nuts, milk chocolate, & light-roast coffee. Medium-to-full mouthfeel with minimal carbonation.

Świetne piwo. Fajny, choć mało intensywny aromat, wygląd spoko, a w smaku spora paleta doznań. Kolejne udane piwo z browaru De Molen.

0,33l bottle from Beergium. Pours black colour with small head. Strikes first as a weird beer. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, cocoa, dark fruits, bitterness, oak, some roasted malts but not very heavy on them. Quite lightish body for non-BA IS with the ABV, lively carbonation.
