Bottle. [thank you Jos & Cees]hawthorne00 (4071) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAY 13, 2011
Completely black with a big, frothy, beige-brown head. Aroma has heavy coffee, mild cocoa-beans, vinious, fairly sharp. Highish carbonation, good creamy and still fairly light mouthfeel. Flavour is vinious, perhaps a bit too sharp in alcohol. Roasted, lots of sharp coffee. Nice, mild chocolate softness in the middle. Kinda good even if the alcohol
Bottle. Very dark brown with a loosish three inch light tan head. Aroma of coffee, cocoa, tar, grass. Quite carbonated slightly syrupy mouthfeel. Taste has good chocolate, vanilla, coffee, ash. A little powdery and astringent at the end where (maybe a little much) hop as well as roasted bitterness is evident. Alcohol sticks out a little. Said to serve at 10C but I liked it rather more as it warmed a bit and the carbonation faded. A bit much coffee for balance even though the coffee’s really nice. kermis (14488) - The Hague / Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - MAY 8, 2011

Bottle at Kent BF Canterbury 2010. Drunk for my birthday on the Thursday night. Choc and coffee is perfectly blended with the beer. I loved sharing it with other people and enjoyed drinking it myself even more. Just wonderful. Intense flavours without being over the top. Really drinkable dark malty beer. Thanks Menno

Corked bottle. Deep dark brown color. Pours a huge head. Creamy dark chocolate and refined mocha coffee in the aroma. Malty sweetish roastbitter flavor with strong mocha coffee flavors and dark chocolate. Long roastbitter and coffee aftertaste. Very tasty beer, powerful yet refined and quite aromatic. Aroma: strange aroma, coffee??
Taste: Balanced, chocolatey. Slightly roasted. Hoppy finish.
Mouthfeel: Quite watery for 10%. Medium at most.
Aftertaste is soft and hoppy.
Overall: Very drinkable and pleasant, but does not offer a great deal of complexity. Alcohol is very well hidden, but it does not contribute to the flavour much. sebletitje (10287) - Enghien, BELGIUM - MAR 3, 2011
bouteille 75cl # 280/431
