Bottle from Rudat in Dortmund. The beer has got a deep black colour with a steady, low head and smooth body. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, brandy and oak. Taste of intense chocolate and coffee, malt, barley, wine, sherry, plums, dark berries, oak and woods. Smooth to drink, very wine-like. Absolutely delicious. Pours deep black with small off-white head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and yeast. Taste has coffee beans, bitter chocolate and lots of roasted malts. Goes into a coffee’ish and strong roasted finish.
UPDATED: MAY 24, 2016 Very dark brown color, almost no head at all. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt. Taste of coffee, cocoa, roasted malt, milk chocolate. Alcohol is nicely hidden. Medium to full body, soft carbonation. Very sticky, smooth and it goes down like water. Not overly sweet, slightly bitter finish. Another good stout from De Molen.procraste (472) - FRANCE - APR 18, 2015

Quel nez ! ça empeste agréablement le cacao amère ( Je me comprends ! )
UPDATED: MAY 24, 2016 Bottle 0.33l from Hoppiness (Koper, Slo). Thick dark liquid with minimal head. Full body, light carbonation. Coffee aroma and taste, roasted, sweet. A hint of alcohol but don’t care for that in this one. Finish lasts forever. Very nice one.

This beer was bottled on 31 January 2013 along with a note saying to enjoy it within 5 years. So currently this is still well within their suggested limits. However normally with coffee flavoured beers, I prefer to drink them fresher when the coffee flavour is usually more pronounced. A 330ml bottle poured into a snifter glass pitch black with minimal head that disappears quickly leaving some spotty lacing. The smell was of biscuit malt, some chocolate, leather and light coffee and toffee/caramel. Similar to the smell, it’s taste leads with coffee and dark chocolate with a bitter finish. For such high ABV, there is almost no alcohol to taste. It was medium bodied, minimal carbonation and slightly sticky. But overall, the lack of alcohol taste and nice coffee and bitter chocolate flavours make it easy to drink. Would prefer a bit more carbonation in it though. Tap @ Fermentoren. Aroma of pure malt, coffee, chocolate. Black colour with small tan head, tiny lasting. Slight boozy taste, moderate sweetness, alcohol, some malt bitterness. Full body, thick smooth texture, light carbonation, malt sweet finish. age_jellema (83) - Hengelo, NETHERLANDS - MAR 23, 2015
Fine imperial. Not the best in the De Molen palate. Caramel, chocolate, coffee. almost no bubbles, very soft carbonation. medium bitter and sweet. puredelusion (393) - Lviv, UKRAINE - MAR 22, 2015
Sample. Pours black colour with small beige head, mostly diminishing head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, malts. Taste is light to medium sweet, with coffee bitterness and well hidden alcoholic warmth, medium bitter. Overall tastes like a cold espresso with a hints of chocolate and alcohol. Long coffee finish, a little bit astringent. Medium to full body, soft carbonation, creamy texture. Very interesting and unusual. MonsterMagnet (1439) - NETHERLANDS - MAR 21, 2015
Bottle, bottle date 4-2014. Pours black with a beige head. Nose: malty, coffee, mocca. Taste: coffee, mocca, dark chocolate, nuts, ash. Sweet, moderate bitter, medium body, thin oily texture. Big mocca coffee finish. A bit too big perhaps.
