Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours a deep brown with a small beige head that dissipates fairly quickly. Huge coffee nose with some vanilla, cinnamon and fennel seed present. Cola-like mouthfeel with some stickiness and medium body. Lots of dark roasted coffee on the palate with an underlying sweetness with some spice that comes up. Slightly warming finish, but not too sweet. Enjoyable.

Bottle from former de Molen beershop, dated 08/05/15 BB 08/05/20, large sample. Dark color, very short frothy head. Aroma of dark chcolate, roasted coffee, dry biscuit, touch of mocha, bit ashes, but mainly dark chocolate with chocolatey and nutty coffee. Bit cookie sweetness in taste, bitter from chocolate and coffee. It has a bit of the rough edges de Molen shows a lot the last years, but it’s pretty darn tasty thats what it is!

On tape at La Tape. Brownish head with good retention. Very dark brown colour with reddish hues and almost black appearance. Aroma is roasted. Taste is coffee, roasted malts an prune with some acidity and bitter finish. Creamy palate and medium body, lighter body than expected in an imperial stout.

solidfunk (9440) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - OCT 9, 2015
Some peat and mocha, some dark chocolate and light caramel. Peaty aroma consistent with many of their dark beers. Pours black with good head and lacing. Creamy thick consistency. Good balance.

4 oz pour on draft at ChurchKey. Dark brownish black with light tan head. Aromas of fresh ground coffee, dark chocolate, caramel. Tastes of coffee, chocolate, caramel, hint of alcohol. Medium body with a dry finish. Well masked for 11.6% ABV.

argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - OCT 6, 2015
Draft. Medium tan head atop clear dark brown body. Aroma is moderately sweet, coffee/roast, some bittersweet chocolate, light anise. Taste is sweet, Belgian chocolate, some espresso, faint roast, alcohol burn. Sticky medium-full body, very desserty.

Bottle, 33cL. 2.5 years old. 10°C. Home. A shining black beer with a small beige head ; poor retention. Landscape of coffee (++), chocolate, roast, toast, sugar, alcohol ; no fruit. Light to medium sweet, medium dry bitter ; warming background. Medium to full body, thin oily texture, flat, lasting bittersweet coffee finish, warming note. Overall, delicious, looks like a coffee, nice coffee aroma with good bitterness. I understand people who expects more taste depth but honestly I don’t care right now.

ElManana (2079) - Scheldewindeke, BELGIUM - SEP 25, 2015
Bottle bought at some webshop I think. Vanilla, coffee, oak, quite sweet, missing coffee in this beer, also little sour. Expected much more I’m afraid.
