Keg at The Pint Shop, Oxford, Wednesday 19th April 2017 in the company of Tanner, Sam and Jude. Amazed that I have not had this before, to be fair I probably have had it and assumed I’d already rated it. Smooth, creamy, lots of coffee but with a super indulgent feel, this is a rich and full in the mouth beer, it’s really great. Very Indulgent, creamy its too easy drinking, lovely. Pours black with nice light tan head. Moderate head retention, little lacing. Roasty, coffee, cacao, toffee nose. Medium body, average carbonation, little crispy texture. Taste is roasty, coffee, moderate bitter. Good.

A: Pours a deep oily black color forming a big tan head with good retention and tons of spotty lacings left in the glass.
S: Nose is sweet and roasted. Strong notes of dark chocolate, coffee beans, roasted malts, dark dry fruits and nuts. Notes of cherry. A bit boozy. Some earthy notes.
T: Sweet upfront. Strong notes of dark chocolate and dark dry fruits. Notes of coffee beans, roasted malts. Raisins and dry plums. Good grassy hops bitter finish.
M: Medium body. Low carbonation. Dry plums and grassy hops in the aftertaste.

Pours dark brown with no head at all. Aroma of roasted coffee, carafa malts, dried plums, brown sugar, some smokiness. Flavour is quite sweet up front, then the roastiness comes to balance. I can distinctly detect the carafa malts as if I was crushing them in my mouth. And this gives a good amount of smokiness to the flavour. Unfortunately, in sum, the taste is quite boring, and the aftertaste is loosened. Medium body, oily texture, soft to flat carbonation. Alcohol (11,6% on the label) well hidden.
