Bottle. Aroma of coffee Nice black colour. Taste a little unpleasant: too much like cold coffee. But the aftertaste is long and very pleasing.

33cl bottle. Dark ruby-brown pour with a very thin beige lacing. The smell is dominated by cold coffee and cocoa. Tastes like cold coffee, too - with some added notes of dark cherries, caramel and roasted malts. Smooth mouthfeel, flat, with a coffee bitter aftertaste.

Draft at Khyber Pass during their annual Tsar Power event. Black pour. Tan head. Slight lace. Good chocolate/coffee powered Stout. Nice example of the style. Earthy liquorice. Molasses. Hints of charcoal and blackberries.

New Beer Distributors, NYC bottle: pours an oily black with a beige head. Aroma is chocolate and coffee and roast. Taste is a lot of freshly ground coffee and nice chocolate. I noticed some peppery notes in there. Body is kind of thick in a nice drinkable way. Nice.

Aroma:
Slight/medium aroma of malts, caramel, chocolate, mocha, roasted malts and coffee.

Appearance:
Turbid/opaque ruby/dark brown beer with a slight/medium brown/dark brown head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, chocolate and mocha; ends slightly bitter and dry with roasted malts and coffee.

Overall:
This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. The aroma could have been intenser and the appearance could have been more opaque with a better head however. The flavour might be a tad too safe for my liking, but is good nonetheless.

Rating #1604 - 14.04.2015 - Easter Dinner beer #3. Pours jet black with a luxurious velvety tan head with excellent retention. Aroma is heavy on cocoa, dark roast coffee, toffee, burnt sugar notes. Coffee flavours throughout, accented by chocolate notes and a creamier texture. Phenomenal.

1/21/2012 10:29:42 PM Bottle from Bierkoning. Dark black body with small tan head. Nose is of coffee, molasses and licorice. Taste is also quite full with nice malts, coffee, licorice, vanilla and lots of chocolate in there. Oily and smooth texture. Bitter in the finish. Well done.
