COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A beast of a imperial stout! Nacht & Ontij matured almost a year on Cognac barrels. The beer has eased down a lot. A divine brew.

Countbeer (6592) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, - OCT 7, 2012
Draught @BBF’12: A pitch black beer with no head. The aroma’s are a good mix of whiskey, wood, spices, some cognac tints (though it seems to be more whiskey), coffee, some chocolate, roast and vanilla. Taste bourbon ish notes, spicy, bitter, coffee, roasted barley malts, chocolate, roast and bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with coal, bitter, some spicy notes hint of coffee and some roasted barley malts. Low carbo, soft light oily creamy mouthfeel, full body and a creamy texture. Maybe it was served a bit too cold, but it was still damn tasty!

PotjeBier (3183) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - FEB 3, 2017
33 cl bottle (filled to the rim) @ home, bottled Sept. 2012. Black color. Light brown head, not much and quickly disappearing. Aroma’s of booze, fruit, cognac, light umami. Retronasal it’s fruit, sweet, wood, light cognac/vinous, not so boozy. Flavor is moderate sweet, chocolatey, boozy. Alcohol is warming. Body is medium. Low carbonation. Finishes with light roast, bitter chocolate. Probably a bit past its prime, but still very enjoyable.

Bottle shared. Almost black with short lasting beige head. Quite some dried berries, vanilla, cognac is there but not overpowering, roasted malts and toffee. Blackberries are very strong here. Some ash. Medium sweet and over medium bitter with quite some alcohol. Over medium bodied with slick feel and low carbonation.

[27/2/13] Bottle from De Molen online beershop. Dark brown body with big head. Nose is chocolate, malts, caramel, molasses. Great flavor of chocolate and plums and molasses again. Really nice and then the cognac! Spicy as well. Just really good.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Red waxed 33cl bottle pick up at De Molen bottle shop well over a year ago where it has Sept. 5th 2012 and 14% ABV indicated on the label. The aroma offers up chocolate, dark roasted malts, slim charred malts, molasses, oak, brownie and a light booziness at this early stage. The taste, oh man, the more I sip on this the more I love it. I get molasses drizzled chocolate brownie, dark roasted malts, caramel soaked burnt malts and then smooth cognac. To midway the smooth cognac booze and spicy oak surge forward for a few moments and then recede allowing the tasty rich malty goodness of chocolate, dark roasted malts, burnt malts and molasses take you into the finish. Love it. This shows no signs of going down hill either.
