Dec 2012 - Cold bottle. Some porter qualities, and some lager. Big chunks of sediment. A bit mild and watery at the start, leading to some slightly smokey and bitter flavours. Easy drinking. Less interesting than the other De Molens though. Simonsen (1294) - NORWAY - FEB 23, 2013
Basically black, with sediment. Basically no head. Aroma is limited, there’s a bit of chocolate and toast. Much more flavor one you take a sip, with chocolate, toast, nuts. Some almost red wine like character. What sweetness there is is balanced by hop and roast bitterness and a little acidic tang. Fresh, herbal, noble hop finish. Unusual beer - imperial black pilsner? Refreshing though. mcberko (18084) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 20, 2013
330mL bottle, pours an amber-tinged dark brown with shitloads of sediment floating about - doesn’t look that attractive because of it. Aroma of somewhat stale toasted nuts, German lager yeast and bready malts. Flavour is very similar, with the German lager yeast upfront, stale toasted nuts, cardboard and bready malt. Medium-bodied with the flavour being slightly more pleasant than the nose. Still, nothing special here - could use more roast, and without the stale, cardboard-y elements.

330 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with medium head that settle quickly. Aromas of chocolate biscuits, burnt sugar, and dried grass. Flavors are similar with a note of raisins. Nice for this style. Koelschtrinker (20594) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - FEB 10, 2013
Herber, angenehm röstiger Antrunk, passende Süße. Das Bier wird würziger, grasig hopfig, frisch. Dabei sind die Röstnoten weiterhin präsent, die Süße nimmt dagegen ab. 8/11/11/12/10/12 OleR (4804) - Oslo, NORWAY - JAN 26, 2013
0.33 L bottle. A brief big-bubbled tanned head, over a translucent deep ruby colored body. Low aroma level. Some sourish dark fruits, and a whiff of creamed caramel. Fruity flavors. Jammy, light sour-sweet with notes of caramel malts. Light to medium body strenght. Slick. Short malty-fruity finish. Drinks ok, does not stand out. tfredvik (1985) - Oslo, NORWAY - JAN 18, 2013
Dark brownish red body with a small, light-brown head that reduces to a fully lasting layer, good lacing. The aroma is a bit faint, but quite ok. It’s sweet and dominated by dark caramel and fruity notes, also chocolate and faint spices. There’s a lot of sweetness in the taste as well, but the moderate to light bitter rather long-lasting finish backs up the moderate sweetness well. Roasted flavours with caramel and fruits, the chocolate is further in the back along with spices. Medium body, oily texture, medium carbonation and a light dry finish. A good one that reminds me of the best macro brewery dunkler bocks that are sold as christmas beers at the Norwegian wine monopoly. But this is actually a schwarzbier?

Flaske 0,33l på vertshuset Skarven 15 Jan 13. Kjempedypbrun. Høyt luftig skum med litt farge. God, svakt krydret aroma. Litt søt. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken er mye krydder og blir litt tørr etter hvert. Svakt metallisk avslutning.
