Black colour, enormous off head (be careful when pouring) that lasts for a good while, creamy compact lace. Aroma of chocolate, raisins, licorice, coffee, sugar cane. I can’t detect the rum, but it’s raisins soaked in rum, I guess it’s normal. Medium body, oily texture, good carbonation. Taste of raisins, chocolate, coffee, licorice. Good, but not great. A bit watery.

Pours dark brown with a cloudy brown head. Aroma is rum, raisins (!), roasty and clear malts. Flavor is liqour, licorice, dark malts, dark chocolate, raisins, mild hopbitter and a rhum-caramel finish. Something spicy as well. Likeable, certainly. Misses body and texture though. Would have loved a bit more thickness and body.

Benzai (16235) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - JUN 23, 2017
Bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus and Ansjelaah. Opaque black color, average sized beige to brown head. Smell and taste malts, caramel, lightly earthy, lightly metallic in a good way and defintely raisins. Maybe a hint of figs too. Or dried dark fruits. Quite nice.

Bottle @ benzai. Black colour with a small light brown head. Smells roasty, charred, coffee, chocolate, nice. Tastes roasty, coffee, slight hint of liquorice, sweet. As it warms up the rum becomes more prevalent, whicj is a downside for me. Slightly earthy taste also. Medium body, soft carbo.

mgajdaczewa (2227) - Katowice, POLAND - JUN 10, 2017
Obiecali rodzynki i rum - dali rodzynki i rum. W aromacie rodzynkowo, lekka czekolada, coś a’la wędzony fenol też się błąka. W smaku raczej wytrawne, wyraźnie rodzynkowe z lekkim rumowym posmakiem, nieco czekolady i więcej karmelu. Ot niebanalne codzienne piwo, pijalne.

Seffle (464) - Mölndal, SWEDEN - JUN 3, 2017
Bottle from Brouwcafé de Molen 170526. Dark blackbrown body with creamy espressolike head. Coffee and rum in the nose. Full palate with sweet rum raisins, coffee, chocolate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of rummy raisins, like boerenjongens, caramel and licorice. Flavor of sweet rummy raisins, again the boerenjongens flavor, also caramel, some licorice, chocolate malt and vanilla. Takes me right back to sunday family meeting at the grandparents when I was young. Good beer, even without the nostalgia.
