3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle shared at Dean’s sticky table tasting. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of dark fruits and vanilla with funky sour aspects, should that be there? Flavour is over moderate sweet, light sour, moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
Bottle from Monks cafe Wallingatan. Short beige head. Clear brown color. Licht oxidized with tomato ketchup aroma. Sweet sweet and a firm bitterness. Kleurplaatje (211) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - FEB 28, 2017
Four year old bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with a minimal off-white head. Aroma is malty with some clear presence of fruits, caramel, and unfortunately some soy sauce as well... Hmmm... Unpleasantly odd though. Luckily the taste does not match the nose. Moderately sweet with a smooth and somewhat buttery bourbon touch. Toasty, and a bit oaky, with a clear presence of dark fruits. Pleasant warmness in the end with a lingering liquor-like touch in the mouth. Just a tad alcoholic. Far from bad actually. Medium bodied, oily texture and a smooth carbonation. Not the best Molen brew I had. Bit of an off-putting nose, but it recovers quite a lot tastewise. martjoobolut (4947) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - NOV 25, 2016
Bottle, bottled 2013 (shared by fatphil). Pours dark amber. Aroma is sweet, candy, caramel, malt. Flavor is sweet and bitter, caramel, candy, malt, bitterness, butterscotch, some dryness. Covers alcohol mostly. Overall: very good. PhillyCraft (7739) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 5, 2016
3 year old Bottle acquired in Amsterdam, pours a darker brown with small head. Notes of old wood, caramel, toffee, dark fruit, and some light heat. Gets really complex and better as it warms up. Not the best big beer from De Molen but it has their unique dusty and woody complexities in each sip. Warming in the chest imperial with a medium to fuller body. altonbrownd (5897) - Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA - AUG 30, 2016

A: Dark brown coloured with some reddish tones and a thin off white lacing. N: Dates, dried figs, raisins, hint of bourbon and vanilla. Some strange oaky/murky/moldy smell to it...? T: Figs, vanilla ice cream, raisins, apricot, peach(?), marzipan. Pretty almond forward... O: Would have wanted some more barrels to it and don’t recognize the Rasputin to it...? Quite nice anyway. sjogro (4654) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - FEB 16, 2016
Bottle 3way action. Dark brown with teeny weeny off-white head. Big sweet oats, dustiness, wine, blue cheese spiciness, pecan/cashew nutbutter, or like Maakun says: old hazlenuts. Rye bread. Very sweet and strong. Body is full and texture is fat, oily. Maakun (6340) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - FEB 16, 2016
