Four year old bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with a minimal off-white head. Aroma is malty with some clear presence of fruits, caramel, and unfortunately some soy sauce as well... Hmmm... Unpleasantly odd though. Luckily the taste does not match the nose. Moderately sweet with a smooth and somewhat buttery bourbon touch. Toasty, and a bit oaky, with a clear presence of dark fruits. Pleasant warmness in the end with a lingering liquor-like touch in the mouth. Just a tad alcoholic. Far from bad actually. Medium bodied, oily texture and a smooth carbonation. 3 year old Bottle acquired in Amsterdam, pours a darker brown with small head. Notes of old wood, caramel, toffee, dark fruit, and some light heat. Gets really complex and better as it warms up. Not the best big beer from De Molen but it has their unique dusty and woody complexities in each sip. [12/08/2013] Bottle from De Molen Online Beershop: Dark brown body with medium head. Nose is malty, caramel, licorice. Taste is caramel, sweet, malts, toasty. Nice and oily finish.

A: Dark brown coloured with some reddish tones and a thin off white lacing. N: Dates, dried figs, raisins, hint of bourbon and vanilla. Some strange oaky/murky/moldy smell to it...? T: Figs, vanilla ice cream, raisins, apricot, peach(?), marzipan. Pretty almond forward... O: Would have wanted some more barrels to it and don’t recognize the Rasputin to it...? Bottle 3way action. Dark brown with teeny weeny off-white head. Big sweet oats, dustiness, wine, blue cheese spiciness, pecan/cashew nutbutter, or like Maakun says: old hazlenuts. Rye bread. Dark brown with ruby highlights and a beige head. Aroma is bourbon, Brazil nuts, dates, caramel, chestnut. Full bodied, nutty on the palate with a sweet bourbon finish. Taste is bourbon, hazelnut, dates, caramel, nuts.
