Wow, didn’t expect this to be so good! Utrerly balanced with the deepest blackness and the nice dark fruits and whiskey and the bitters and spices and the ... Just hmmm! Buongiorgio00 (934) - - JAN 3, 2014
Bottled. Small sample. Old note. Tasted when it was still fresh. The aroma has peat, light roast, chocolate, dried fruit, oak. Dark coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is light bitter and has sweetness, bit roast, peat, some dried fruits. Medium-full bodied beer. The barrel aging with Laphroaig is not overdone and seem to blend in nicely. Absolutely black with light brown foam head. Aroma is very nice indeed, tastes chocolates, toast, whiskey, rye. Nice beer, drink slowly. Short aftertaste. (Velp 201312) Scopey (14708) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 20, 2016
Bottle big thanks to Dirty D. Slow gusher. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is rich, oily, slick peated malt action, medicinal, oily smoke, dark fruits, plum, prune, tangy and earth. The taste is tangy dark fruits upfront, plum, prune, earth, rich, smoke malt, peat, tangy action, meatiness and earth with a smooth finish. Medium - full body and fine carbonation. Smooth and I think very well balanced. Yum. Bov (12636) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - JUL 22, 2013
courtesy of fiulijn - black beer with a chaotic foam left; peated whisky aroma with notes of vinegar and some chocolate in the background; full-bodied, low carbonation, sweet, gently sticky, assertive with notes of cacao, whisky with lingering smokey notes daje (4436) - NORWAY - JUN 28, 2013
Tap at Haand festival 2013. Dark brown body, tiny white head.Aroma of peated malt, whisky, roasted malt. Roasty and bitter taste, wood and plum, light whisky notes. Nice dark chocolate taste too. fiulijn (20492) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 10, 2013
Bottle from De Molen beershop, Bodegraven, bottled 19 March 2013
Dark brown color, not yet black, with small frothy head. The aroma is dubious, there is some peat, but also some vinegar, fruits, dust, light chocolate. Good body structure; nice flavor of caramel and some chocolate, with light sourness that adds dynamics; correct bitterness, with a lightly dusty final.
Good but dirty.
