Light unclear medium to dark amber orange colour with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, orange, dry grass, leather, wood. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, wood, dry hops. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat.

GBBF. Labelled ’Rye IPA Chinook’ at the fest. Later confirmed by Menno Oliver to be a Bordeaux barrel version. Hazy amber beer, few bubbles for a head. Smooth palate, semi dry. Fine carbonation. Nice juicy hops - orange with a touch of peach syrup - well integrated. Medium rye spice. Semi dry finish - well joined up and rather nice! Tried and failed to discern any Bordeaux character but compared to the regular Chinook Rye this is smoother and a little calmer.
From the wood at the GBBF - 08/08/12. Clouded bronze with a minimal off-white head which soon thins. Hops, pine, caramel on the nose. Taste follows with a little burnt sugar. Medium to full body with a dry finish Scopey (14730) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 16, 2012

The taste is rye bread, hot cross buns, booze, cracker/rivita, resin, wood and some syrupy fruit. Medium body and low carbonation. Amber colour, small white head. ARoma is fruity, wooden, mild ryebready notes along with toffee and mild wooden notes. Flavour is caramel, wood, mild floral and fruity notes as well as some toffee. Not too much rye in the flavour.
