Bottled. Hazy brown color, thick frothy brownish head, some small debris floating around. Aroma of caramel malt, clove, some ginger, cookie. Slight bitter taste, bit sweet, only slight alcohol burn, which is nice in a beer like this. Decent beer. Ungstrup (37633) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - JUN 10, 2009
Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a huge lazing tan head. The aroma is sweet with notes of spices, malt, and caramel, as well as a light note of alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, alcohol, and spices, especially lavender. The alcohol leaves a light burn in the mouth. Thanks Papsoe for sharing. Bottle at home.
Hazy orange brown coloured with a med sized beige head.
Fruity aroma dominated by dried fruits with notes of yeast, cardemomme, ginger, metal, chocolate and alcohol.
Fruity flavour of yeast, cardemomme and hops with notes of dried fruits, alcohol and grape fruits.
Hoppy and warming alcoholic finish. Christian (13670) - Odense, DENMARK - APR 14, 2009
Cloudy red brown with a lasting ivory head. Strongly spiced aroma.Cardemum and anise prominent, with maybe cinnamon and ginger plus some alcohol. I get the suspicion that the spice is covering up some autolysis rubber aroma - or maybe it’s just all that cardemum.
Sweetish and alcoholic flavour with caramel and strong spice. I’m no fan of strongly spiced beers and not really sweet Belgians either. bierkoning (13355) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - FEB 5, 2009
UPDATED: FEB 17, 2009 Corked bottle from De Molen. Dark brown color, small instantly disappearing head. Cardemom, malt and caramel in the aroma. Thick, malty sweet fluid with almost no carbon. Speculaas, cardemom and some earthy hops in the flavor. Notes of gingerbread. Hint of mint in the aftertaste. Good enough, but refermentation in the bottle should get some extra attention.
Tasted again a few weeks later: the re-fermentation has done its work, giving the beer more lifeliness.
