harrisoni (18970) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - OCT 6, 2008
On tap at EBF 08. People had been going on about this for 2 days, so I thought that I would give it a go. Black, no head. Stunning aroma. Stunning. Great bitter choc espresso stout. ONe of the beers of the festival. It really stood out even though it was one of the last beers I had on the Saturday after drinking for 12 hours solid. A beer that lived up to the hype. UPDATED: JAN 31, 2009 Black with a small, light brown head. Aroma has licorice, chocolate and other roast malt. Dry and roasted flavour with a touch of charcoal. A little hoppiness, and a touch of smoke at the end. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel Maria (10211) - Thisted, DENMARK - OCT 5, 2008
EBF2008. It’s pitch black and the aroma has notes of licorice, roasted malt and light peat smoke. The flavour has sweetness and notes of licorice, peat smoke, dark chocolate and roasted malt. The balance is very nice in this tasty brew. It’s strange, many of the De Molen beers gives me that ”at home” and I know you-feeling, where you do not need at lot of words to explain what you mean... larsniclas (7144) - Billdal, SWEDEN - OCT 4, 2008
Sampled at EBF08.
Pitch black. No head.
Light and milky chocolate-aroma.
Pretty thick and oily palate.
Roatsed flavour with coffee and chocolate. Rune (13186) - Tromsø, NORWAY - OCT 2, 2008
Almost completely black in its naked body appearance. Dark malty smell with smoky highlights. Gentle, velvet-like taste of well balanced liquorice, coffee and chocolate malts, and then ending up with a long-lived, bittersweet finish. Flat and dusty in the mouth. Full bodied. Just great (draught at EBF, 13.09.2008).
Hansen (8601) - Assentoft, DENMARK - OCT 1, 2008
Black and clear. Has virtually no head. Aroma is burnt, roasted. Flavor starts moderate sweet and finish heavy bitter, nice. Dry, syrup texture. Flat carbonation. NMC01 (70) - DENMARK - SEP 30, 2008
Vanishing head and smooth, silky-like taste. Not that complex and maybe it lacks bitterness - but very delicious and somehow easy to drink. The alcohol burden (11%) is hidden well. Lovely stuff. Papsoe (25060) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - SEP 30, 2008
(On tap) Completely opaque black with a small rough light brown head. Fat aroma of hard roasted malt, prunes and a discreet whiff of smoke. Quite full-bodied with very sweet burned malts, dried fruit and again a warming alcoholic finish with a lightly burned ashy malt bitterness. Lovely. 120908 Bullit (4642) - Burgos, SPAIN - SEP 28, 2008
Tap @ De Molen. Black colour, small tan head. Aroma has roasted malts. bitter chocolate and coffee. Flavour has malts, chocolate and some coffee. Still has some sharp edges. Decent stuff. RoyceH (1199) - Hesperange, LUXEMBOURG - SEP 27, 2008
Draught, EBF 08, Copenhagen. Black with a thin beige film. Smoky, harsh nose. Mouth is very strong, but with a nice yeasty, oaty, roasted coffee, burnt aftertaste. Well over-burnt. Ok.
