Black, tan head. Coffee aroma and taste. Zingy sherbet-like zing in the mouth. Smoke is subtle. Really tasty sipper. A bit alcoholic though.

Pitch black color, expresso head with big bubbles. Slightly smokey, roasted malty aroma. Quite alcoholic, sticky liquerish, some hops and smokey flavors. Coffee beans in the finish. Good, quite different than Hel&Verdenomis, which I understood is "father beer" for this one. This was more alcoholic and smokey.

[on tap at EBF 2008] Very chocolatey roasted barley with vanilla and coffee aroma. Opaque, dark brown with no top. Excellent imperial stout burnt almond flavour with coffee and chocolate notes. Sherry and some smoke too. Medium to full body with moderate carbonation and a dark malt bitter finish.

UPDATED: DEC 3, 2009 Tap @ De Molen Brewery. Black colored brew. Coffee, dark chocolate aroma with some liquorice. Coffee, dark chocolate and light liquorice in the flavor. Could not taste a lot of the whisky malts. Balanced imperial stout, good decent bitterness, but not too overwhelming. Could be a bit more creamy, but its pretty thick already. Looking forward of trying a botlle when aged some more! Another winner from De Molen. Aged 1 year. Very smooth. More whisky tones, very nice.

Tap @ EBF, 2008, Carlsberg.
Pours absolutely black with a small, film head with little bubbles round the edges of my glass. Super chocolate aroma, light smoke, toffee and coffee. Some soft roastiness as well. Low carbonation, managing that great oily/creamy combination. Super flavour, good dark chocolate, some smoke, caramel, a peity edge. But it is the chocolate that takes the crown and runs around with it, joyously cheering (more or less like I did).
