Bottle at Craigs. Pours black with a thin tan head. Big roast nose of the original, with a malt extract layer. Not sure what the cognac is adding as I cant really pick it up, but a good base beer.

Midnight black, light glint, thin viscous tan cap producing winks of lacing. Rubbed leather, fire burst apples nose. Soft roast and meaty. Tinselly coffee almost like a diluted liquer sweetness. Not massive Cognac, but chewy wood edge towards the finish. Very flat.

Bottle sample at a tasting at avrashis place. Thanks Tom L. Black, not opaque, with a bit of tan foam. Aroma of cognac, wood, some chocolate and vanilla notes. Sweetish flavor with mild roastiness, some chocolate, fruity notes, wood and a finish with a bit of bitterness and an alcoholic note. Medium to full-bodied, pretty rounded.
