Bottle at Craig’s. Pours black with a thin tan head. Big roast nose of the original, with a malt extract layer. Not sure what the cognac is adding as I can’t really pick it up, but a good base beer.

Midnight black, light glint, thin viscous tan cap producing winks of lacing. Rubbed leather, fire burst apples nose. Soft roast and meaty. Tinselly coffee almost like a diluted liquer sweetness. Not massive Cognac, but chewy wood edge towards the finish. Very flat.

Bottle, Let’s Go Digita Tasting

Bottle sample at a tasting at avrashi’s place. Thanks Tom L. Black, not opaque, with a bit of tan foam. Aroma of cognac, wood, some chocolate and vanilla notes. Sweetish flavor with mild roastiness, some chocolate, fruity notes, wood and a finish with a bit of bitterness and an alcoholic note. Medium to full-bodied, pretty rounded.

Bottle @ Armin’s palace, picked up at De Molen. Pours a clear dark reddish browns appearance with a light brown head. Fairly oxidized, light grape, dark fruity, cardboard aroma. Dark chocolate, dark fruity, toasted ain’t, light caramel, earthy flavor. Fuck, this one is a bit old as well.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, dark black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of dark chocolate, hints of oak, vanilla, cognac, hints of earth, slight booze in there, slight cardboard. Taste is a mix of dark chocolate, roast, hints of cognac, lots of oak, cardboard, caramel, finishing sweet.

Bottle at FoCo Stout Tasting 2013, courtesy of Aaron. Pour is deep brown with a red tint and small tan head. Oxidized, wet cardboard, caramel, dark fruity, toffee, and bready aroma. Taste is dark cocoa, coffee, cardboard, bready, doughy, and oxidized. Slick mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Way too oxidized.
