Stronger version of a Baltic Porter. Comparable with an Imperial Stout but without the heavily roasted malt character. This created a soft beer with strong hops in the finish.

Black, and a small tight head. Lovely full roast aroma in the aroma. Mirrored in the taste too. No astringency from the roast at all, I always appreciate that. No wows, but has great balance. Lots of dry dry noble hops in the finish leave you with a lovely tingly bite. Nice one. Menno shoots - Menno scores!

Love the roast. In the aroma its lovely, but in the taste, its utterly magnificent. Had a whole bottle all to myself (OK, Anna was sharing, but the level rarely goes down), and enjoyed every sip. So mellow, beautifully aged, balance just perfect. Not getting the "wow", but it literally has everything but the wow for me.

Really nice appearance near black with dark lingering head. Aroma is dark fruits, paint, chocolate, and balsamic. Taste is lightly sweet and fruity with very mild roastyness. Heavy booze and a bit of that paint but otherwise great.

Botella de 330ml. Copa Globo. Saboreada en sep12. Color caoba oscuro y cabeza bronceada. Una fina y persistente capa permanece en la superficie. En nariz, aromas de maltas torrefactas y chocolate fundido, fragancias florales y toques de especias. Sensacin cremosa, dulce y malteada. Cuerpo intenso y carbonatacin suave. Oleica y densa. Cacao herbceo y amargo en el intermedio. Retrogusto levemente azucarado. ABV increblemente bien camuflado!! 330ml bottle. Snifter glass. Enjoyed on sep12. Dark mahogany color & tan headed. Lasting thin layer is left on top. To the nose roasted malt & fudge chocolate aromas, floral fragrances & spiced touches. Creamy & sweet malty sensation. Full body. Soft carbonation. Oily & dense. Herbal & bitter cocoa in the middle. Sligthly sugary aftertaste. Incredible well hidden ABV!!

330 ml bottle. Pours black with large retentive tan head. Aromas of oily dark fruit (figs/prunes), rich milk chocolate, and roasted malts. Creamy. Flavors of of strong coffee au lait, a bit of mocca, and toasted malts. Beautiful. ABV perfectly hidden. But is it really a Porter?

UPDATED: AUG 20, 2013 appearance: Sort of pitch black, or very dark brown at the very least. Nice 2/3 finger foam head. Not lasting too long, but has great lacing. smell: Roasted malts together with some sour dried red fruity malts. Dark caramel & chocolate sweetness. Coffee as well. taste: Quite amazing. First you get sweet & sour dried fruits, like black currant, vigs and plum. Then there is some sweet, smokey, dark caramel followed by roasted coffee flavors. Slightly bitter, but quite mellow for a proper porter. Then as a finish it all seems to come together. You still get the hint of sour, dark dried fruits, the sweet caramel and a bit of coffee. The coffee and caramel fade over time, leaving quite clearly the vigs/plum taste behind. Lovely. mouthfeel: delicious. Creamy, round and full, but with a proper carbonation kick. overall: Im tending to give this one a 5 actually. But usually i only get there after i had a few. This is the one id go back to the brewery for so far, after bringing back a whole case of "The Molen" bears last time as tasters. Its quite alcohol heavy, but you dont get none of that when drinking (after maybe ;)). It has such a great flavor balance. I like porters, but most of the time they are just a touch off balance. Its too bitter, too milky or whatever. This one seems to do everything right. Highly advised! EDIT: got some new ones last week, but somehow seems to taste quite different this time. Maybe its because they need longer cellar time, but these werent nearly as good.

Draft @ brewpub. Pours a pitch black beer with a decent amount of tanned head on top. Aroma has some coffee notes, some chocolate and alcohol. Also some darker, roasted malts are present in the aroma. Flavour is quite sweet, loads of molasses in the flavour, giving it a sweet, cloying mouthfeel. This is a heavy sipper and one to respect for sure.

Supremely smooth and robustly roasted just like a rich dessert. The pour is a purely opaque black and viscous mess globbing out of the bottle. A sweet chocolate nose and a firm roast. A hint of hops up front on the palate with a lacking of overall bitterness. A really smooth and easy drinking brew with sweet malts, coffee and chocolate notes. Overall, exceptional.
