OG 1108, FG 1026, Color 388.7 EBC, Chinook and Saaz hops. Bitterness 93.5 EBU.

Stronger version of a Baltic Porter. Comparable with an Imperial Stout but without the heavily roasted malt character. This created a soft beer with strong hops in the finish.

Bottle [050313] (over a year old)
Jet black, big frothy bubly tan head, good lacing, good head retention, superb for the abv
Aroma - Rich dark smooth malts, dark chocolate, touch of spiciness, soft rich dark coffee, really rich malts, complex aroma, slightly vinous, so smooth
Taste as aroma - so smooth rich dark malts, chcolate, soft dark coffee, so well balanced, smooth roasted malts, rich chocolate cake, alcohol well hidden, fantastic flavour
Palate - Medium carb, full body, very smooth texture. Finish - smooth , long lingering very rich meaty dark malts, soft coffee, bit of cocoa, quite dry on the tail
Overall - Very well balanced, great rich flavour, fantastic beer - it’s one of the best beers I’ve ever had

Draft. Pours dark brown with a lasting and light lacing creamy tan small head. Aroma is caramel, raspberries, dense malt, chocolate, roasted malt, complex brown sugars, red apple, dark berries, dried fruit. Taste is heavy sweet and medium bitter. Body is full, texture is medium sticky and smooth, carbonation is soft+. Finishes sweet with berries and drying alcohol. Hides abv. really well. This is incredibly balanced and quite a treat.

mmmmmm.....Crap it looks like my bottle might have been leaking, there is dried sticky beer running down the side of the bottle coming from the cap. Beer still appears to be carbonated. Dark brown body with limited cap floating on top. Roasted aroma, some sweetness, tobacco, earth, and only a small touch of coffee. Taste is light and crisp and has a dull lingering bitter in the finish. Flavorless sweetness, earth, kind of coffee but not. I change my mind the earth is just dirt. This isn’t that bad, not epic though. Can’t decide if this beer has been tainted yet. Just hit a big chunk of chocolate. Powdery this taste is!! No trace of the alcohol, well my head feels funny. ACK!! Getting to sweet. Almost sour never really makes it. I don’t know what to make of this beer I could give it a 2.8 - 3.8 depending on the sip.

Black pour with a thick tan head. Sweet licorice in the nose. Taste is also very sweet and delicious. Some leather, some coffee, alot of licorice and some hops in the finish. Creamy and full bodied.

330 mL bottle, served in a snifter at a tasting at Chris’ place. Pours black with a small tan head that fades slowly to a thin cover. On the nose, there are big notes of chocolate and toasty malts along with earth and herbs. The flavour has big sweet malts with chocolate, caramel and toasty notes. The finnish is long and lingering malty sweet with chocolate, espresso and a hint of hops.. On the palate, it is full in body with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is an amazing stout; more stout than porter really, but beautiful nonetheless. 2012-11-23

Ikke noe spesiell lukt. Dyp mørk farge. Rumd fyldog smak. Gir en rund god ettersmak. En øl jeg vil annbefale.

Black, and a small tight head. Lovely full roast aroma in the aroma. Mirrored in the taste too. No astringency from the roast at all, I always appreciate that. No wows, but has great balance. Lots of dry dry noble hops in the finish leave you with a lovely tingly bite. Nice one. Menno shoots - Menno scores!

Love the roast. In the aroma it’s lovely, but in the taste, it’s utterly magnificent. Had a whole bottle all to myself (OK, Anna was sharing, but the level rarely goes down), and enjoyed every sip. So mellow, beautifully aged, balance just perfect. Not getting the "wow", but it literally has everything but the wow for me.
