COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
OG 1108, FG 1026, Color 388.7 EBC, Chinook and Saaz hops. Bitterness 93.5 EBU.

Stronger version of a Baltic Porter. Comparable with an Imperial Stout but without the heavily roasted malt character. This created a soft beer with strong hops in the finish.

Tap. Large dense tan head with a black body. Aroma/taste: dark chocolate, blackberries, molasses, wood with a sweetish body but a significant bitter finish. Full bodied, oily, low carbonation.

Szopeen (556) - POLAND - JUL 18, 2017

Completely black, nice head. Intense aroma of liquor, dark fruits, caramel, honey. Smooth and dense. Taste is dark fruits (plums, ripe cherries), dark chocolate, cookies, roast, dark bread. Sweet and intense.

Masa pumpernikla i czekolady w aromacie. Odrobina ciemnych słodów. Bladobeżowa piana, konkretna. W smaku trochę puste - jest typowo, czekolada, pumpernikiel i trochę kawy. Lekka popiołowość na podniebieniu. Nasycenie w kierunku średniego, oczekiwałem niższego. Ciało nawet ok. Dobre piwo, ale oczekiwania były większe.

From a 330ml bottle on 7/7/2017 (ABV listed as 10.1%, IBU 93).Pours a deep brown with almost no head, which is a de Molen trade mark. The nose is promounced, with caramel, chocolate and soy. In the mouth, it’s sweet up front with caramel, chocolate, topped off by a bitterness featuring sea salt, and soy. I don’t get the IBUs but does feature a bit of warming alcohol at the back. The texture is slightly syrupy and the carbonation soft. I enjoyed it but it didn’t blow my hair back.

33 cl. bottled 19/05/2015. Deep brown-black with a disc of fine beady bubbles. Nose is toffee, chocolate, earthy soy, toasted walnut and whiskey. Flavor is vanilla, chocolate, whiskey, toasted peanut and wood. Medium-heavy body has smooth near-medium carbonation and a good balance given the dessert slant provided by the big malts. ABV shows a bit even after 2 years of bottle aging, but not overly so.

hauxe (757) - Butzbach, Hesse, GERMANY - JUN 5, 2017
Bottled 17-11-14. Thanks to wombat23. Pours dark brown from the bottle and leaves a thin, tan head that soon fades. Aroma is a non-traditional mix of soy sauce, cherry cough drop, light chocolate. Taste is bittersweet, turning dryer and slightly bitterer and a touch salty in the finish. A crazy mix of flavors - cherry, aniseed, soy sauce, Apfelschnaps. Body is medium rather than full, with a very soft carbonation. Finishes warm, but the alcohol remains hidden. Overall a unique beer. While it sometimes threatened to taste more like a medicine than a beer, it never actually took that last step. Absolutely deadly in quantity. Creative, interesting, great!

wombat23 (1417) - Texas, USA - MAY 17, 2017
Shared 33cl bottle. Bottled 5/4/2012. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and dark fruits. Taste is roasted malt, dark fruits, a bit of smoke, soy sauce, ash, oak, earth. Perhaps some oxidation. Finish is sweet, malty, and alcohol-laden. Somewhat disappointing.
