Bottle trade with wavers1. Terry, you’re a God, and probably my favorite trading partner. Thank you. This beer is God-damn incredible. Color is a brown-black with ruby highlights and no head. Nose is rife with port, plum, strawberry, unbelievable malts, great character from the wood (which itself was imported from Elven Country) and a very vinous, ephemeral character. Flavor is the fruit and wood mentioned above, topped off with a beautiful dark grape old port character that is just absurd. Like a chocolatey, brandy-soaked Alexander the Grape. Just unbelievably balanced and possibly the best wood-aged beer I have ever had.
pours unclear medium dark brown with a small beige cap offering some retention and lacing. roasted grapes, bitter milk chocolate, winey barrels - bourbon aura; peppery cherries, slightly overdone fruits soaked in madeira, dark toffee mixture, lots of spices, warming peppery alcohol although integrated. moderately low carbonation, medium body - oily; semi-sweet woody finish. it did age well if a maderized imperial porter is your thing - lots of fruit with a fun wine character as well. A deep dark imperial stout with a thin big bubbled brown head. In aroma, sweet chocolate malt with light vinous notes, bourbon barrel, licorice, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet chocolate malt with light bourbon barrel notes, woody notes, light treacle, alcohol warmth, very nice and complex. Bottle from Pushkinwow. Draft @Brouwcafé de Molen. Pours a pitch black beer with a slightly reddish hue around the rim of the glass. Creamy, brownish head on top, settles quickly into a little ring. Aroma of light vinegar and vineous notes, loads of oak, boozy notes, licorice and toffee. Flavor has a nice tarty, red fruit-ish note in there, alongside some nice, sweet caramel and toffee-like characters. Balance is great, aftertaste is long and light vineous and carbonation is medium. Very nice one, even after all these years. DialSquare (5142) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 5, 2016
