Bottle at Craig’s. Over carbonated. Some sweet chocolate roast and bitterness but too fizzy.

It’s black and against the light dark mahogany, and the head is huuuge, creamy and lasting. The aroma has notes of spicy hops, yeast, ripe fruits, and licorice. The mouth feel is semi-oily. The moderately sweet flavor has notes of licorice, spicy yeast, ripe fruits, resin, and the finish has a pleasant bitterness with notes of licorice.

So smooth! Flasket 06.06.11. Takk til Asle Bjørn og hans viljestyrke! Kveldens beste så langt (rating 22 av i alt 28 på programmet).

abemorsten (3652) - Mosterøy, NORWAY - OCT 18, 2014
0,75 l bottle at RBHD-gathering, Tau, Oct-2014. Clear deep brown body with a huge light brown. Port, pollen, dried fruits on the nose. Dried fruits, raisins, roasted and vinuous notes. Full bodied and smooth. Nuts emerge in the finish.

Bottle share with RB/HD at Tau 18.10.14. Dark brown. Huge and foamy pale brown head. Grapefruit, lime and cigar box in aroma. More malt in taste, with fortified wine and dark berries. Fairly well in harmony for a black IPA.

Shared 750 ml corked and caged bottle at local tasting, thanks to abemorsten. Black colour, large beige head. Aroma of piney hops and mild roasty notes, also some nice vinous notes. Smooth flavour, the hops have probably been somewhat subdued with time, but they are still there. Moderate roasty notes. Quite pleasant to drink. Best beer of the tasting.

Bottle. Color hazy dark brown with small head. Aroma hop, chocalte, malt. Taste sweet, roasted, caramel, floral.

Flaske 0,75l. Eik?. Blir veldig tørr etter hvert.

Bottle, 33cl. It looks quite clear, but then it’s next to black in color so it’s hard to tell. A small, light beige head sits on top. There’s a distinct orange touch in the aroma, with coffee and some roasted malts. It has a nice bitterness in the mouth, with flavors of orange peel, coffee and roasted malts. Dry, full-bodied and pleasantly carbonated, finishing roasted and bitter. For some reason I left this bottle in my cellar for quite some time, but it seems to keep well, as it still tasted nice and Black IPA-ish. 130308

gEUS (1637) - Linden, BELGIUM - OCT 22, 2013
330 ml bottle at home - pours deep brown with a light beige head, fine bubbles. Spicy hot aroma, pine hops. Medium body with lots of piny hops and roasty notes as from the middle. Medium dry finish. Taste is roasted malts and grass. Special beer!
