Deep brown, candyfloss tan head.
Lovely complex beer. Smoke, bitter hops, fruitiness, sage, cinnamon. Some dried fruit - apricots, prunes. Ashes and embers in the finish.
Thanks to Haandbryggeriet for importing this! jeff789 (1408) - West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 3, 2011
clear dark brown, almost opaque with a nice tan head, crazy retention... Roasty aroma, light smoke almost medicinal.... lively, creamy, coffee, chocolate, hoppy but not in an american citrusy way, roast plays nicely... medium body, dry finish, creamy, very excellent mouthfeel... Its awesome when a friend brings home a few beers from the netherlands and one of them has only 8 ratings... Excellent beer, incredibly crafted... Vaiz (4460) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - AUG 18, 2011
Bottle. Dark brown pour, creamy tan head. Aroma is a typical De Molen one, caramel, nuts, chocolate and some coffee. Flavor is bitter roasted malts, nice spicy hops and somewhat ashy. Nice balance. Very drinkable, but not really a black IPA? Cuso (8685) - Bratislava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - OCT 1, 2011
Bottle from De Molen brewery. Dark brown color with medium frothy beige head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, hints of liquorice. Taste, coffee, milk chocolate, grapefruit, caramel, hints of resin. Fruity bitter finish. Excellent beer. Benjii (3049) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - NOV 25, 2011
In bottle. Pours a brown colour with a thin yellowish beige head. Lovely hoppy aroma of pineapple, peach, chocolate and coffee. Nice chewy mouth-feel with grapefruit, coffee and chocolate notes. Alcohol is quite present with a nice bitter, roasty malt linger.

Bottle from the man himself! Thanks FoneFan and Cheers! Aroma has notes of citrus, tropical fruits, roasted malts, coffee and chocolate but hidden by the huge hop profile. Very dark brown that sits black in the glass. Large khaki head that mostly diminished and left decent lace. Flavor is medium sweet and heavy bitterness. Palate is full/medium bodied and watery with average carbonation. Overall a very nice IPA. The roasted malts are there but are overwhelmed by the intense hop aromas. I think this is a good thing since I prefer them to play second fiddle in an IPA anyhow. Loved the brew. visionthing (5334) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - FEB 26, 2012
