Bottle 896 of 1392, bottled Feb 7th 2012
Hazy copper to brown color, verys mall white head. Sweet, alcohol, raissin scent. Sweet, malty, raissin, caramel, grainy, bread taste. Nuts aftertaste, intensely nutty even. Warming alcohol. Smooth low co2 mouthfeel, low bitterness. Very tasty! Also well done on having so high alcohol and still not letting it take over.
Bottle #392. Clear ruby brown color, no head. Aroma of caramel, prunes, vanilla, subtle licorice. Taste is smooth and sweet caramel candy, rich summer fruits, with a finish of vanilla and suitable subtle whiskey. Well done. Dedollewaitor (16315) - Odense, DENMARK - APR 14, 2012

Thanks to Fin and Loz for this. I had one ageing in my garage so I swapped those over so this is an aged version. This bottle was from Menno. Thanks my friend. Drunk with some Lindt choc eggs. Cute little bottle. Deep red brown colour thin collar of white bubbles. Citrus and red fruit aroma. Touch of heat on end but the fruit is really terrific. Very clean beer. Quite light and agile. Vinuous like a light red Loire chilled red. Just a very lovely little post prandial drink. Lovely. Doodler (318) - Denver, Colorado, USA - APR 8, 2012
Clear nip bottle with a red waxed top– thanks to Rune for bringing this from overseas for me. A favorite from my summer visit to De Miolen brewery., but I had drank my stash. Pours a nearly clear, reddish amber with a fluffy white head. Nose is dark fruits, light malts and caramel. Sweet flavors with caramel, vanilla and spiced fruits. Try it if you can. A very complex barleywine and an absolute delicious treat. Yummmy.

UPDATED: AUG 23, 2012 18 cl bottle, brewed Jan 12th 2011, bottled Feb 7th 2012. The dark amber color looks great in the clear glass bottle with red wax! Pours lovely dark amber/mahogany, completely still. Quite nice looking. The aroma is very full of dark fruits - figs and dates especially, fudgy caramel, a lovely implemented barrel quality which leaves coconut and a trace of vanilla, too. There is a lovely Sauternes quality with a sweet, juicy late harvest white grape which plays particularly well with the bourbon notes. Rich plum quality as it warms. A hint of leather and tobacco. The taste is out of this world. Lots of sweetness, of course - dark fruits, caramel, bourbony oakiness, coconut, again it has the Sauternes quality which gives it somewhat of a freshness on the palate. That brings me to the palate - it’s so incredibly smooth! Very chewy texture, but a very very delicate carbonation providing a slight prickle on the tongue. I can’t believe how smooth it is and how easily it goes down - I have a hard time believing this is a 16% beer. Most definitely THE best high abv beer I’ve had. Most definitely THE best barleyed wine I’ve had. (9-4-9-5-17)

2nd bottle wasn’t nearly as good, slightly oxidized and more unbalanced sweet, so I cut the top off the rating.
(180ml bottle, red wax, #16/1722, brewed 15 Oct 2010, bottled 19 Apr 2011) Pours a hazy deep amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, caramel, toffee, and coconut. Flavor of bourbon, toasted coconut, vanilla, dark fruit, wood, and caramel. GT (10002) - San Diego, California, USA - MAR 27, 2012
180mL nip red wax, clear bottle from De Bierkoning. 16.2% Clear,
deeper amber pour with yellow bubbles. No real head formation. Rich tawny Barleywine nose with rich buttery bourbon. Excellent nose. Aged and full. More on the English side of the style. Taste is fruity and tangy with red fruit juice and hints of spicy bourbon ending with some oily warming and excellent thick heat. Very nice stuff. Definitely on the stickier sweet side but nicely balanced. Could use some hop balance or more body. Too sweet and fruit juicy. Christian (13769) - Odense, DENMARK - MAR 27, 2012
At Carlsens Kvarter. Amber with a tiny white head. Malty biscuit aroma with port, walnuts, wood and vanilla, and some calvados-like alcohol notes. Sweet malty flavour with caramel and biscuit, rich vanilla notes and quite a bit of alcohol Enjoyit (3809) - Vadum, DENMARK - MAR 24, 2012
