18 cl bottle. Bottle #776. Brewed on 12.01.2011. Bottled on 02.07.2012.laiti (8507) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAR 16, 2013
Pours clear copper color with no head. Aroma of ripe fruits, glue-like alcohol, cloud berries and wooden notes. Flavor of ripe fruits, sweetish caramel malts, toffee and resin. Sweet and sticky palate but not as sweet as I expected. Surprisingly subtle and the alcohol is pretty well hidden. Nothing special though.

Aroma has vinegar, rowanberries, some sugar and hints of caramel. Flavour has berries, caramel, some sugary notes, spices and slightly burning alcohol. A feeling of burning chili also. Interesting.
180ml bottle from Beernavigatorlusikka (7819) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAR 16, 2013
Bottle #776, brewed 12.1.2011, bottled 2.7.2012 - Pours dark brown with no head. Aroma of strong sweet syrupy malty notes, oak, wood, vinegar and alcohol. Taste is messy with strong sweet syrupy notes, alcohol, hints of bourbon, oak and wood. Finish is sticky, sweet, malty and oaky with notes of vanilla, bourbon and alcohol. Slightly too sweet for my taste, feels a bit unbalanced, but still surprisingly not that bad.
180 ml bottle.
PotjeBier (3628) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - FEB 26, 2013
Pours a copper colour without a head. Aroma of strong malts, caramel, dried fruits and some alcohol. Flavour of strong sweet caramel, lingonberries, alcohol, dried fruits, low bitterness, bourbon and some wood. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and low carbonation. Finishes warming, malty and sweet. Bourbon smoothens a bit. A dessert.
18 cl bottle A home. Red-brown color. No head to speak of. Aroma’s: wood, boozy, sour fruit, with sweetness (sweet fruit) and bourbon & vanilla retronasal. Flavor is sweet, toffee-ish. Full bodied, thick mouthfeel, but alcohol feel isn’t that strong. Medium carbonation. Long finish with dried fruit and some wood. Nice nightcap. Ibrew2or3 (8808) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - JAN 9, 2013
Picked up at the bottle shop at De Molen many manny months back. The tiny clear red waxed 18cl bottle, bottle number 760, pours with a headless clear amber body that has easy on the eyes red ruby hues. The aroma is super jazzed with brown sugar simmered prunes, dates and ripe cherries rolling into earthy musty molasses covered spicy oak and then some booze at the end of the draw. Outstanding! The taste is rich and starting out with prune and date like sweetness and getting cherry and earthy before muted molasses infused spicy oak joins in the fun. Excellent BA barleywine. dreadnord (1012) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 25, 2012
Pours dark brown with no head whatsoever. The nose is quite pungent. It actually smells really bad. Wet garbage. But also in the trashbag is a little bit of raisins, some whiskey and wood. The taste is sweet, with a little bit of bitter but not enough to balance this monster. Mouthfeel is oily and harsh with some big alcohol warming to go along. The body is heavy and the finish is long. Not bad, nose is really the only detractor. JEK69 (396) - FRANCE - NOV 27, 2012
It stinks first. Really unpleasant.
In mouth it’s a bit disappointing: zero carbonation, taste is very (too) sweet.
Aromas: caramel, bourbon notes in aftertaste but not so evident.
I am really not so happy with that expensive brew! larsniclas (7187) - Billdal, SWEDEN - OCT 15, 2012
