UPDATED: JAN 11, 2016 33cl bottle served in a snifter. Pours deep brown garnet with a dark tan head which almost immediately disappears. Aroma is astonishingly decadent with booze, vanilla, oak, buttercream, toffee, Christmas cake and of course bourbon. Taste is exactly as expected however, the extreme sweetness overpowers any bitterness that may try and get a look in. Yes it is boozy but you would not guess the ABV. I have never tried a beer this good which still has so much aging possibilities. I can only imagine what this would taste like in a few years time (BB Date 2039).

Bourbon barrel aged awesomeness. Easily my favourite from De Molen and it might be the best barley wine I’ve had. From the first time I tried it in a 18cl bottle it’s been a hunt to get more. Like a heavier and sweeter Thomas Hardys in the most beautiful way possible.

Pours a crystal clear mahogany. Great looking beer. Nose is awesome with vanilla, dark fruit, light spice. Flavor is just crazy awesome. Sweet malt with tons of caramel, vanilla, rich fruit, and light spice. Complex, brilliant. One of the best I have had from De Molen. Big thanks to Bloomster for hooking me up with this.

This is definitely one of my all-time favourites!! 18 cl bottle @ De Molen. Pours a deep orange beer with no head. A nose of orange peel, butterscotch caramel and madeira. A taste of caramel and supersweet exotic fruitiness. It’s incredible how the huge amount of alcohol is hidden by an explosive taste! Aftertaste is milk cocolate and caramel, silky soft. Wooow... Incredible

Mjuk och mumsig. Helt underbar. Världsklass. Tankarna far åt gamla Thomas Hardys när dom är i fin form men den här är så mycket tyngre. Blir nostalgisk. De Molen levererade världsklass en gång i tiden. Komplex fudekola i doft och smak. Pröjsade 120kr för en flarra. Snacka om fynd!

What an incredibly awesome beer! It was dark when I poured and drank it, so I don’t have any idea of the looks of it.the aroma is stunning, whiskey, vanilla, barley wine. Taste likewise with hints of wood. Body is full and almost oily and the carbonation is very present for a beer of this style and alcohol percentage. topbeer!

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2013 18 cl. [email protected]: dark brown with a purple hue, miniature tanned head that immediately disappears, smell is bourbon, dark fruits & caramel, taste is very sweet with lots & lots of cough medicine & liquorice, caramel, dark fruits, dark malt, sugar, some Sirop de Liège , plain syrup, bourbon, warming & almost no carbonation, bottle nr. 1430/1722 //////// Tried this one again, 18 cl. nip bottle @ Kulminator, this has really improved, gone are all the cough syrup notes from previous, still very sweet but in a nice way, huge sugar and very sweet bourbon barrel, great stuff, zero head this time around safe for some bubbles //// original score 4, drinks more like a 4.7 now, going to up the score to 4.6, this has aged really nicely which I usually don’t expect from a De Molen beer

UPDATED: OCT 7, 2012 Dusty, robust looking brown body with small lacing. Lots of wood, grapes, whiskey aromas, tutti frutti and dark bread. Taste is candy, hazelnut, liquor. Terrifically complex and rich. After sipping some time it really reminds me of a good old Port. Rarely did I taste a beer this full of flavour en complexity, without getting too heavy or dusty. World class. (33cl bottle at De Molen) (Rating re-indexed)
