Bottle from Vinmonpolet Vika, Oslo. BB October 2013. Hazy dark orangey brown with a lasting beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, oxidized and dark fruit. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish with a little warming alcohol. Soft and mellow. 181113

Prachtig bokbier.

Bottle, as "Dubbelbock". Pours brown without much head. Nose at first was just a bit of malt and metal but as it warmed the dark fruits (meaning plums, really) and spice (cloves?) really came out. Flavour was the same, not much at first but the plum, raisin, toffee, and mild alcohol heat really warmed me to this beer. Definitely was fun to share this with a pale lager drinker. If you see lower ratings from heavy samplers they may have had it too cold.

Bottle from Bierkompass!
Had this as Dubbelbock, bottled 05/10/2011!!! Pours clear copper colored with high, creamy white head. Smell has lots of sweet caramel malts, some plum and roasted malts. Starts with lots of licorice, dark fruits and some nutty and roasted malts. Middle part has some more fruity yeast, paired with licorice, toffee and roasted malts. Goes into a nutty-malty finish with some roasted notes, licorice and dark fruits, expecially plum.

Bottle from Cotteridge wines. Dark red copper beer with a small head. Aroma of sweet malts. Taste is treacle, sweet malts, pepper spice and some alcohol warmth. Medium bodied and a little chewy. Very good beer.

Usual small bottle: poured into a ’Corsendonk’ badged stemmed tulip on 17 Aug 2013, the last beer in my ’random beer tasting evening’ held with no one but myself. Very little sediment (if any) left the bottle. I love the intensity of Doppelbocks and this offering didn’t let me down. The look was deep ruddy amber/ light ruby red , the off-white head becoming a whisper and collar far to quickly for me. As you’d expect, the malts rule the aroma and taste: sweet malty molasses take over completely, biscuity and lightly roasted in the nose, richer and deeper in the taste. Lovely brew from start to finish, rich, flavoursome and interesting, I love maltier brews and this beer and style suits be too a tee!
