Boiled for 20 hours to create an umami flavour. Umami is the fifth basic taste next to sweet, sour, salty and bitter. By doing so we have now a beer that’s very thick and oily with loads of roasted malts.

Tap @ CBF. Aroma has leather, soy sauce, very intense, dark chocolate, a hint of vanilla, tar, cough syrup. Nice balance between intense roast and sweetness. Taste has soy sauce, leather, intense coffee, fark chocolate, hints of cherries, vanilla, caramel and toffey. This beer is so thick that you can cut it with a knife, insanely chewy.

Copenhagen Beer Festival 2011. Black beer with a lasting brown head. Figs aroma, raisins, alcohol, chocolate, licorice, cocoa and some wheat (?). Roasted fig flavor, spicy, hoppy, chocolate and tar, some smoke. Long bitter finish with alcohol and sweet fruits.

Koelschtrinker (21489) - K?ln (Cologne), GERMANY - MAY 29, 2011
Intensives Erlebnis! 9/13/8/13//13

UPDATED: DEC 3, 2012 Questa birra ti scartavetra la gola! Per i palati forti, astenersi astemi. Gran bell’affumicato finale, complimenti.

6oz bottle drank from a CCB snifter. Thanks? to tpd. When it takes at least 10 ba/rb to finish this beer you know there are problems... A dark brown pour, oil viscosity, no carbonation at all, very dark... The aroma is a touch hot, lots of chocolate and chemicals, not good but doesn’t show the atrocity to come... The taste at first is just a hot stout showing chocolate, the finish is horrendous. TONS of chemical tar, shows notes of chemicals and tar, this is just bad. No one could drink more than once. This is a De Molen MISS. Don’t bother, even for the tick.

Jaksmart (456) - Aarhus, DENMARK - MAR 20, 2011
Bottle. Almost pitch black, faint reddish hue, almost no head. Aroma is very thick, no alcohol, faint roast, sweet liquorice, milk chocolate, faint oak notes, if I’m not mistaken. Also some vanilla and some dried fruits and spices. Very delicious. Taste is extremely bitter with a very dry liquorice finish, lasting quite long. The initial sugary oak sweetness is quickly dampened by the harsh finish. Strong but not boozy at all.

Thanks to askofficerfriendly for the share. I guess we are on a thick blackness kick. Pours a dark midnight black with a small tan head. Nose is smoke, black, peat, earth, asphalt, smoke, and toast. Flavor is similar with lots of bitter from the char. Oily mouthfeel and earthy booze in the finish. Not bad.
